Fifth gear carrera s gen 2

Seems odd. [8|]
Nige, have tried it 3 times now and it is just hilarious! The biggest mental obstacle is flooring it (right down on to the kick down button) at a stand still but after the first time (on your own car and not a demonstrator!)when the revs do stop at 6500........it's smiles all the way. Just need to be circumspect about where you do it! Enjoy - at least Tiff didn't rubbish the PDK (well, the buttons anyway) like all the other journos.
We all know any 997 can get to 150mph on the Millbrook straight, we wanted a review of the new PDK gearbox and whether Porsche had fixed a lot of the PASM issues from the 1st gen cars...
Poor show Fifth Gear!

Thanks for the feedback on the Launch Control on our PDK'S.
I will get to try it out soon, when I go on the Silverstone Porsche Experience, so I wont have any fears about totally flooring their cars!!
I will try it on my car soon too, just want to put some more miles on my Targa first.
Nige.

...did anyone else spot the motorcycle cop giving the car (or was it Tiff?) the thumbs up on the motorway? a refreshing moment.
I have to say I thought it was a paramedic...
...............there to resuscitate the programme........?ORIGINAL: Mark Bennett

Yes, a great shame that there is no such thing an in-depth analysis on any TV car programme. I blame Top Gear with their idiotic races and caravan smashing competitions
It's been 15 yrs but the style and quality of shows has moved on 'much' since Tiff did his thing in Minty.
Use the Alpine Circuit to test the carrera s gen 2, nah that wouldn't be nearly as interesting, apparently.
158 mph on the straight is easy for a driver like Tiff; heck I did 170 in a gen 1 GT3 - he clearly was just trying to get the best economy score.
They could have done a 1 hour special; heritage; technology (DFI and PDK) and driveability - then he could have blasted it on the Alpne circuit - that would have been worth watching!!!
How about Porsche UK paying expenses to some UK 997 Gen.2 owners to make a video like that to go on the club website and/or YouTube? An hour might be pushing it a bit though - 20 minutes?ORIGINAL: mex99
