Can't wait for porsche check thingy. Already putting money aside for PSE.
And Richard I'll pick your brain on that Navi thing that you've installed in yours.
Thats gotta be the best mod I've seen. But I'm thinking to go for AVIC D3 purely for
illumination key color.

A very nice vehical indeed. In agreement the Pioneer sat nav systems are the best.Far superior over stock. I am in an indecisive position myself. I like Richards install for the AVIC HD unit with all the toys but the D3 illunination gives the stock illunination but losing the HD capability and some other useful functions. I was hoping the recently released AVIC HDBT3 would give the illumination functionality but doesn't.
Anyway good luck in you modding and yes you do have to get the PSE. Absoultely the mutts nutts.
Enjoy.
Regards Alan.

I got the D3 and a BT200 Bluetooth unit (often sold together in the UK - and an amazing piece of kit ) plus a reverse camera which is truly a gimmick but quite fun! I've also got an amp in the luggage compartment and speaker upgrades (possibly not necessary at first). I also hard wired my IPOD into the armrest tray - its a great interface with the Pioneer unit and plug and play.
If you dont have PCM, you will need a new centre console trim piece from Porsche - its (unbeliveably) about £80 but the only other alternative is some quite in-depth cutting and glueing of the existing trim piece which is designed for single din stereos and needs modification to hold the unit in place. The result looks really OEM and I think really sets off the car - the PCM that came with these models was so dreadful compared to modern DVD-driven systems with real time traffic etc etc
Let me know how you get on.....
Can anyone tell from the picture above are those litronic/xenons or not?
They aren't litronics (or they would have a small silvery disk on the headlights). They could have re-trofitted HID lights though, you can't tell from a pic.
Doh! You are absolutely right!
Check the VIL sticker under the bonnet and in the Service book if it has option M601 - Litronics. Then you will know if it was factory fitted when new.
In the picture I do see headlight washers, so they could very well have litronics or may just have headlamp washer option M288
They can be retrofitted complete with headlight washers, but they wouldn't then have automatic headlight beam adjustment, and would not be diagnosable via PST2.
You could always call the seller and ask for the whole list of VIL numbers. That's the first thing I do before I even see a car, primarily to make it's C16 (UK spec) and to see the list of factory fitted options. I'm sure the seller would oblige if you asked.

Friend had PCM 1 in the first car. We took it out and fleabayd it for 580£. result.
PCM 2 is well better version of PCM 1. Fleabay again 680£ this time.
Both units were replaced with AVIC units.
Sound 100x better.
Navigation ? Well makes PCM looks like compass. And not very good one at that.
Merc had the same problem with their cd based navi systems. But fortunately they woke up
got Becker to design very good DVD based command and hey presto cars with it are easily sold for £1k more then
cars without.
