first 911 in the near future

Jason, having purchased an '84 3.2 at the end of last year as my first 911 I can't recommend enough - just do it! I used to have an S2 which was great but the carrera has so much character. Not as easy to drive but much more rewarding (still very early days for me) and an element of fear when the pace picks ups. Probably worth buying on just the noise alone compared to the S2 and the engine and feeling of connection between the accelerator and engine is just amazing. Values are only going one way too. Good luck in your search.

hiya,,whilst out of the country on holiday for last 10 days,,we arrived back this morning and i was able to have a good long think whilst and have decided to go with a 87-89 coupe but could go for a targa,,i need to see a few,,
my budget definetly wont stretch to a supersport but i hope to get a nice car with a few quid for upgrades or little niggles and emergency funds also,,i have kind of promised to mrs p to wait until spring but she knows what i am like if the "right one " comes along lol,
i wanted to ask is the g50 box a "must have"? and is the other box on pre87s that hard to live with? even with a recent rebuild using updated parts,,,really would like a coupe but a targa is also a possibilty,,thanks and any advice/opinions much appreciated,,,jason p

Two very nice 3.2 coupe manuals sold through 911 virgin for around the £23k mark recently so your budget should still get you a very nice narrow body car. Links below

No affiliation just what I have seen for sale recently.

I think the 915 v g50 debate has been done to death. I think you just need to drive one of each and decide which suits
