First Porsche - 944 Turbo!

ORIGINAL: zcacogp

I have to say I didn't know that. Black turbos are the fastest. Hmm. Faster than red turbos, or white turbos then?

Oli.

Oh yes indeed, its very well known fact in my head

Am sure colour has nothing whatsoever to do with the already incomparable speed of the S2. [;)]

Good choice Rohan, i'm envious. My advice would be to spend some time getting what you have working in tip top condition. These cars are 20yrs old now and, no matter how well looked after, will be suffering some of the effects of time - though a Porshe 944 wears time better than prety much any other car. I think if you get your car woking great as is you will probably be pleasantly surprised at how good it is. Modding is great fun, but is very addictive and very expensive. If I ever dip my toe into 944 turbo ownership again i'll be making sure i've got the budget to do a proper job all in one go rather than doing it piece meal as I was. It is too frustrating! And one pearl from my experiences - chassis mods are far more rewarding than power mods.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome and good choice - of course it would have been faster if it was red (or a shade of pink maybe...)
Great cars, great choice - get out and drive it, its only rain! It does get a little vague on nice wet leaves mind.
Whatever you do don't google Jon Mitchell garages, Christchurch abd definitely under no circumstances look at the 944 turbo modification page...
Wouldn't catch me there....

No, nor the Promax site, nor the US Lindsey Racing site...[;)][:D]

Value your words of wisdom guys.

Personally, I feel that I should focus ironing out current issues with the car and enjoy as is (in terms of power) for the time being. I'm not the best driver in the world and 250 bhp is plenty for now...

But having said that couldn't resist checking out that those links that were mentioned (e.g. JM Garage), and the turbo stage 4 @ 650 bhp sounds both mental and scary!! [;)]

Cheers.

PS - Have been planning routes exploring some local A and B roads on google maps and I cannot wait for the weekend. Come rain or shine, I am going for my weekend blast. [:D]

Excellent EXCELLENT work! Just wait till you go out in a chipped one;) Its not even the same car. - Should have been chipped out of the factory in my oppinion, it just makes so much difference to the drivability and lag. Only trouble is the standard car feels so lifeless once you've been in one that you can't go back. I remember the days when I thought the standard car felt fast.. ahh the memories;)

This forum is getting to be a bit like the Harry Hill show
'as everyone knows black Turbos are the fastest.' Red are faster etc.
Do we really need to fight it out, no because actually the Silver Rose came first!!

Ah but they improved on them from the first ones!
They even managed to stop them being pink straight out of the factory [;)]
The newer ones take at least 10 years before they are pink.

So's mine "¦ [;)]

"¦ I have no experience on trackdays (only on Forza 3 [:(] )

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to recreate your 944 in-game and join the rest of us for a race sometime! Feel free to add me to your Xbox Live friends list (my Gamertag is designergeek).

Yeah definitely up for that, but the problem is that my 944T has no performance mods!! So will hardly be fair with me in my 250 bhp against the rest of the field in their tuned up monsters [;)]

How about racing in standard trim so I at least have a chance...?! Suppose I could add a few sneaky mods to even things up...

Have not fired up the xbox in a while and cannot remember my gamertag (I think the tags are case sensitve), will check it tonight. Are the races organised / scheduled or are they just random depending when people are online? Just preparing so I can organise a pass from the mrs!! [;)]

Cheers

We've only managed a couple so far, there's no set plan.

The Pistonheads.co.uk guys are much more organised. It's worth joining in with them from time to time!
