First time driver looking to get a 944

Thanks again everyone. My main focus is ensuring what sort of insurance deal I can get (if any) and feel that If I can find a sub 1k quote only then will I go ahead and start looking for a car.

I'm naively basing the car costs on a buy it and assume it'll run without issue from then onwards which, from what I can gather on this forum, is a dangerous game to play. If I do decide to go with a 944 off the bat I'm going to make sure it came from a loving home that knows any former/current issues inside and out. If it means waiting a few extra months to save up an extra grand or two to secure a more solid foundation i'll thank myself in the future no doubt.

I've so far had an unquotable response from RH Classic, they simply stated I didn't meet the criteria. I've tried a few online quotes from standard insurance companies and they all hit back with a £1600 or more which is just too devastating.

Sorry but I don't think there is a large enough smilie of someone laughing to insert here .... let's go with this one: :ROFLMAO:

ANY 944 will cost money to run. They don't take kindly to being neglected and will always need something doing. If you are practical you can keep that cost down. If you aren't then you will find yourself regularly meeting garage bills. But then, very very few cars run without some attention being needed from time to time, so it's not peculiar to the 944.

That's sensible - a good one will cost more to buy, but will work out cheaper than a cheap one and a bunch of bills to put things right.

Best of luck with your hunt. Remember that there is no such a thing as a cheap Porsche.
