Flywheel locking tool.

Just reading through this. If there are any specialist tools that would be useful to have within the Club please let me know, as there is always the option to buy them.

You have to factor in the organisation, so everything has to have a deposit and registered post both ways or things do go missing. That means something worth £30 isn't going to be worth the hassle of buying in and lending out, but more expensive tools might be.

The tensioning tools have proved very popular, albeit 90% of the loans are to Tref [:D], so it would be good to expand the tools on offer.

Willing to loan mine out for a deposit to cover postage, non return and buggeration getting another fee.

PM me (when it is fixed)

apologies, slow to respond to this thread. I have the following arnnworx tools and I'm happy to lend them out;

Flywheel lock
Pin spanner for holding balance belt pulleys
Basic tensioner tool
24/27mm spanner for doing up tensioner pulleys
Purpose made billet drift for inserting the front crank oil seal

IMHO, using a tool via a plughole to lock the engine is crazy and will result in either piston and/or plug thread damage. The torque required on the crankshaft bolt is high to ensure the oil pump drive is fully engaged = don't use it !

Regarding Starter motor removal, the hardest part on the turbo is removing the heat shield, this is because the upper mount for the heat shield is held in place by one of the 4 17mm bolts that connect the torque tube to the bellhousing. Once removed, you can slot this using a dremel or hacksaw that way the next time you need to remove it you only have to loosen the bolt rather than remove it.

Oh and one last thing, disconnect the battery BEFORE you start undoing wires from the starter motor !

Anybody read this months 911 and Porsche world. Did you see the price that pork chop are charging for a flywheel lock tool? Also the price he quoted for an OPC.

Pork Chop offering it for ........................£58.76 plus vat Or Porsche apparently were £73.93 inc vat. Looks like Porsche GB don't like 911 and Porsche world magazine.
