Forum Problem - Post Alerts

Just had email notification of three new items on the Boxster Forum this morning which is how it should work, but seems odd that it seems to suddenly have started working at least for that Forum and wonder if someone has done something?

I've ticked and unticked boxes 'til the cows come home, but none of it seems to make any difference to my notifications. šŸ˜„
Regards,

Clive

Tim, I suspect that this has been fixed as a result of Peter Webb chasing someone up as a result of recent comments in other threads, see https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/threads/forum-problem-post-alerts.216916/#post-1325419
Yes, seems like at last someone has taken some action as suddenly I am receiving alerts, Mark has just put a new post on this at R7 and I have received an email notification, as has a number of other members who have confirmed it in one of our WhatsApp forums.

Hi Clive,
The settings below work for me to get new posts via e-mail. This will work for threads and individual posts.

This alone does not work for Forums/sub-forums without changing default settings for the forum.
WATCH on a forum will bring up the box below with the settings as shown. You must tick the 'Emails' box to enable email alerts for new threads in that forum.

If a forum is already watched (it will show an UNWATCH button) you cannot see/edit these settings. To reset, click UNWATCH and then WATCH to bring the box up and tick for Emails. I suspect that, in the migration, the default setting above was applied to all watched forums, so no explicit e-mails for new threads in a 'watched' forum.

The watch forum options seem new, they weren't there last time I went round the unwatch / watch loop.

Email notifications were off, now on so hopefully things will work now, certainly seems to have started working for some in the last few days.

Thanks Ian,
Your dedication to this subject is greatly appreciated.
I don't get the "Watch" screen you show, just a cut-down one as below. No matter, as you can see the email box is ticked and my "Preferences" screen choices are similar to yours.
My current modus operandi is to daily click on the New Post button followed by clicking on the hamburger (top left) Forum/Latest Posts. This seems to be the most reliable way to receive topics and new posts.
Regards,

Clive

Clive, that's the Thread watch dialog, comes up when you click watch on a thread, as you can see in your screen shot. Try going Go up a level to just "R7 Yorkshire" and click the Watch at that level.

Clive,
Thanks for the screenshot, that helps a lot. As Mark says you need to be at the R7 forum page which lists all the threads. You were in a thread so were only going to receive new posts in that thread. Where you see Forums > Regions > Northern England > R7 - Yorkshire at the top, click on R7 - Yorkshire to get to the main forum page and then click WATCH.

So do selections in the "Preferences" menu now have no effect and notification selections must be made individually in each Register, Region etc.?

Clive

Clive,
As I understand it, you need both set. The region/register forum settings are specific to each forum you watch and can be different for each one. The forum preferences are global for email delivery. I know that it seems complicated for something that should be simple but that is how it is, I think...
