Frontrunner

I saw it once, I believe; and ended up helping to push start it... Youd think a fella with such excellent factory connections could get it sorted out; wouldnt you? [:D]

As always Peter a very generous offer which I will give serious consideration once I get to the end of my shopping list. I anticipate that will be some time in 2026, assuming work picks up.
 
That's twice the photograph of the white Carrera GT has appeared . When I arrived I parked next to it with my 1988 Turbo 'S' only to find that later another 1988 Turbo 'S' in Silver Rose livery had parked alongide us, obviously recognising thr heritage of our cars. The original owner of mine had bottled out of the Silver Rose colour and Burgundy plad interior and had opted for the the optional Zermatt Silver and black leather interior. Note that I haven't got a sunroof. This again is a feature from its Porsche Cup heritage. The car next to me had an "E 944 ..." registration. The "E" prefix indicating the registration year which is important for the model. But "944" ? I have noted several times on the forum that the turbo is reffered to as the "951" but with an engine number of M44/52 ..... for my 250 bhp version, should mine be reffered to as a "952"? The only obvious reference to 944 I have is on the registration document and the Owner's Handbook. How accessible is the register information? How many of the original 70 cars that made it to British shores in 1988 out of a total of 1635 Turbo "S"/ "SE" models in 1988 are registerred? I came accross one last year at the Thoresby Hall Classic Car Show (he had added an "S" after Turbo on the tailgate, If Porsche hadn't after charging in excess of £41K in 1988, why bother? ) and another at the East Midlands PCGB Concourse at Chatsworth House. Then there was the one parked next to me at this year's Front Runner event. This leads me on to the day itself. I have nothing but praise for the organisers. My wife and I made a weekend in the the Cotswolds out of the event and despite her being a novice with a tulip book (only done it once before) we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We enjoyed having to stop at the approach to a bend while the Bentley Drivers Club came the other way. The response from the drivers appreciating our patience was fantastic. Like minded people enjotying their cars. Then there was the Triumph Stag owners at Lower Slaughter. Everyone to their own tastes. Not forgetting the Classic British Motorcycles out for a ride in the English countryside For those who didn't make it, you missed a treat. I was given number "1" but there was no pressure. Enjoyment was the order of the day. Thanks again to all those involved with organising the day. Keith Helliwell 1988 944(?) Turbo "S" .

58 Turbo S are still around according to a previous post. Rich - 944 Turbo S
 
Anyone know how many bridge spoiler turbos are left? I cant remembere the exact figures but had a feeling they were down to 150ish a year by then. Tony
