I have tested my own car and found that on both a £50 fill up on both 98 and 95 RON petrol

I get better fuel economy on 98 RON, which worked out as the improved fuel economy from 98 RON means that it worked out about 2% cheaper overall when running

and of course the engine felt smoother and performance was shaper....
