Gave up. All the best for 2009

I bought an S2 in june , it was the first S2 that I looked at although I had seen a couple of 944s . I bought it off a collecter that decided to cash up and move abroad . He had owned it for 8 years and covered just under 30,000 miles and I stole it off him for £3400 . She has just came back from HP Motorsports in Hainult for a full service and was given a clean bill of health . I use the car every day and have fallen madely in love with it . She handles lovely looks great for a 20 year old car and is fast enough for me . Every where I go she gets looked at , everyone that gets in it loves it , that includes owners of an M3, Suburu STI and a friend of mine that has the last Escort Cosworth . When you buy a 944 you are buying into a classic design with solid engineering and long history in classic motoring , if you want a Japanesse car that looks like any other with no character then feel free .

I actually found that my S2 could keep up with a Mk3 (I think) Impreza STi earlier on one of my favorite local roads and neither of us were hanging back as he seemed to have a bit of issues with understeer too and mentioned when we both pulled in for fuel that he was having trouble shaking me off he seemed genuinly shocked that 'some young whipper snapper' could keep up with his '04 Impreza.

...is now a bad time to remind everyone about the 'Fiat Panda' vs Porsche 944 that was posted a while back!

To be honest, for me its not about speed, its more about owning a classic car i always wanted (should i say i plan on upgrading to a S2 next summer or is now not a good time [:D]).

...and i disagree with 'no good cheap porsches out there', mine was cheap (less than a grand), good condition and to date i have only had to replace a few consumables (tyres, battery, brakes, etc). IMO, not bad for a car thats 26 years old. [:D]
