I have vacilated considerable over my spec. Having lost a packet on the Cayman S, I intend to keep my Gen 2 Cab forever! (well I always say that). My spec is:
Aqua, blue hood, ocean leather, yellow belts and stitching.
PASM
PCM Extended Nav
TPM
Heated seats
PDK (essential)
19" Carrera Classic wheels painted all white
Side strip (Carrera)
Crested wheels centres
UAI
Mats
Bluetooth
Sports Exhaust (fitted later)
VTS
Top tint
Park assist
I have seen a computer generated pic of this combination and it looks stunning. It arrives in the flesh very shortly.

Interestingly, since September 2007, TPM is actually a legal requirement on all cars sold in the USA, primarily for safety reasons. See this entry in Wikipedia. You would have thought that such a large market being compulsory would bring the price of such systems down to a reasonable level...ORIGINAL: jonathanw
have had an after market kit that I bought in USA for my Audi and has already paid for itself when showing a loss of pressure in one tyre which turned out to be a nail. Saved the tyre by prompt action.

No, I don't believe in paint protection systems. My 18 month old Cayman has no chips at all! A good paint film costs at least £1000 and looks bad after a few months and a polish. My advice is to save your money and use it for a front end respray if you need it later. Anyway, Chips Away & the like can get rid of chips cheaply and easily.
Can't agree. To have the front (to about 200mm behind the lights) done cost a fraction of that, is now 10 months old, still as new and hardly visible.
The bugs etc that I have scraped off, I wouldn't have liked to have taken off paintwork and I know I have been hit by stones and the like that would probably have chipped.

My after market US tyre monitoring kit cost $200-00 and then obviously a fitting charge.
I guess that involves taking each tyre off? I presume the sensors are stuck to the wheels themselves?

I got a quote from a better quality system at Silverstone for the whole bonnet, bumper and wing mirrors. It was in excess of £1000. As for being visible, if you use normal Autoglym you can see the edge of the film after a polish.
Try this web site - I had the units delivered while on holiday in US.

I have 2 brand new units not yet fitted. They were going to be for my soon to be going gen1 997 and my wife's car. My wife is due to have her's fitted soon and as my gen2 997 will have factory fitted TPM I have a spare system if my son who has a 987 doesn't want it. If you can hang on for a week or so I may be in a position to sell my spare system.

IMO one of the most important options; being able to check that tyre pressures are all balanced while driving is very comforting and can help avoid a major incident.
Allan makes a very good point Jonathan. TPM is something you didn't know you wanted until you've had it, then it's invaluable and a must-have option. I would definitely spec. this. []

Clive
