Geometry Set-up contacts...

It is done.......

Tongola guys fantastic!!!!....nothing too much trouble friendly good advice etc.

My car has been set up to the RS Alignment specification. I have all the figures if anyone needs them.

The rear toe in was miles out on mine.

The car feels like a go kart....... there is a huge difference in "feel" and stability.

Now feels positive on turn in....just a bit scared I am going to turn in too fast!!!

A+ for Tongola.........now considering them to do all the servicing.

As I mentioned earlier they used the "Motorsport Tool", but unfortunately I did not see them do the check, so I cannot say what was done or how.

I'd love to see the printout of yours @ 9M, Oliver, or is that in the Black Art department ?? .. [;)]

cheers, Maurice [:D]

Maurice

Even though I'm all for sharing knowledge for the benefit of the masses, in this particular instance I'd prefer not to disclose too much of Robin's knowledge. I have a great deal of respect for Robin, 9M and the work they do. Robin has worked for some very big names in motorsport and the result he gets are, I believe, directly attributable to the efforts he has put in and the knowledge he has gained as a result. To this end, I believe both he and the Company deserve the rewards that can come from their efforts and I wouldn't want to dilute those. Parr, quite correctly, most probably view their work in a similar manner.

What I will say though is that I have a good friend who has driven my car both before and after my last alignment. He loved it before Robin's last fettling and I couldn't get him out of the seat afterwards! [] He demanded I call Robin and pass on his feedback and compliments. That's quite a testament when you realise my friend is a race instructor, has worked on contract for Subaru America as a demonstration driver and tests, develops and races sport's proto's among other things. Hi.

Oliver, go ahead and post our settings if you want, we have nothing to hide.

Maurice, I do prefer to run the 993 with less toe-in as it actually makes the car less sensitive in a straight line as well as improving turn-in, almost a win-win situation.

Suspension settings are a personal choice for individual taste, in general standard cars are set to standard spec, lowered cars are best to RS spec and part trackday cars are done close to my RS specs which although good enough to win the Speed Championship this year it is still a compromise between speed events on track and hillclimbs.

Kinematic toe setting up is no more than equalising the rear bump steer (toe-in change from ride height variation). You should not get too hung up on it because we have found from experience and measurements that provided the chassis/subframe/links are straight, in 99% of cases equalising the position of the adjusting screws side-to-side is sufficient to ensure even bump performance on both sides. If the chassis is not straight, you know the answer.....

Following my earlier post, I received an e-mail from another forum member suggesting the Wheel Alignment & Balljoint Centre on Forth Street, Bootle in Merseyside.
They carried out a full check and corrected all four sides for £75 as opposed to £250 from OPC.
They do all the OPC, Audi, VW and BMW work in the area!
Car now tracks straight ahead and the dartiness is gone.

I was handed an identical spec. sheet to Maurice's on the 20/10 (obviously with different figures as my rears were toeing out by .05'!)

Can also vouch for Chris Franklynn. I was the es s2000 owner who rpm talks about. Chris knows his game inside out back to front side to side.
Plus he is a nice guy who loves what he is doing which is a bonus.

I could not get into a Porsche specialist for 4 weeks, so i took it to Elites near Dartford after recommendations, did a superb job with there very latest system, and £120 and you get full computer readouts before and after just to show you how you have been driving around!

Not only that but there was 3 other 911's in there for the same thing. Great service drive in drive out. no waiting, and an amazing peice of kit they have there.

I must add that this is the most significant thing you can do to a 993, I was YEA YEA it cant make that much difference, but the transformation was amazing, i drove home with 1 finger steering, which you cant do if your car is out.
