Getting a build slot

Does anyone have any inside information as to how the waiting list works.
I.e. If your dealer has say 3 on the waiting list whereas another dealer has 8, are the cars allocated based on when the deposit was paid or where each individual is on that particular OPC waiting list, so in reality the person on the waiting list with an OPC with 3 cars would get the car earlier than the person on a waiting list with an OPC with 8 cars, even if the later had paid the deposit earlier?
Also as some of the London OPCs are owned by Porsche UK, do they get a "better/quicker" allocation than OPCs not owned by Porsche UK?

In answer to all of your questions, the answer is no.
When you go into your OPC and build your car with them, they put in a build request to Porsche. This then goes to determine the needs of the dealership. Now you'd like to think that Porsche would fulfil every order request with a physical car but sadly they don't. The OPC will be given allocations based on how many cars they have sold over the last year/quarter and whether they have met the requirements that Porsche DE set out such as sponsoring events, building a new showroom etc.
Each OPC has their own waiting list and it really does depend on if you're lucky enough to get on a list with an OPC that has an allocation or you are a regular customer.
Sadly, If you order a low spec car, there's a pretty good chance you'll go way down the list for an allocation. Customers who have a good relationship with their OPC are more than likely to be higher on the list. Is it corrupt? You could say so but Ferrari have been doing it for decades.

Mine was a high spec when I ordered it with pretty much everything except PTS but with special paint and Bose? Not Burmeister.
My OPC said a higher spec car would be likely to increase the chances of a quicker delivery, but I took that as salesman bulls**t.
From what you have indicated maybe I should place a deposit with an OPC that has a very high volume of sales as they then will have a higher allocation and potentially more cancellation options.

I'm not sure how true this is, but it did come from a well known OPC. I was enquiring yesterday in ref to a Cayman GTS 4.0, and specifically, how long Porsche will be selling this particular model; given the recent bad news that the Cayman/Boxster is going fully electric..!! I was told that Porsche aren't taking any further orders for a Boxster GTS 4.0 but are for the Cayman. For how long though, they couldn't confirm.

Guy in Reading showed me the build slots for 2023/2024.
No 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 slots until 2024 and only a handful of Cayman slots in Q3'23.
I'm fortunate that my car is nearly built and will be delivered in March. But every dealer I've spoken to has told me 2023 is basically "forget it". I hope you get one of the few slots if its a Cayman.

I have seen the Porsche GB allocation for 2023 and the bad news is that no new build slots for the Boxster GTS4.0 are available this year. However, it showed Cayman GTS4.0 build slots Q3'23 only. Told that even in 2024, it will be tough to get a build slot for the GTS4.0. My advice is phone around all the dealers every month. You might get lucky with a cancelled order.
BTW, I've had my Boxster GTS4.0 on order since July'21 and it will finally arrive in March of this year.

I still don't have a confirmed delivery date but the car is now being built. Something a bit odd is going on though as it went into the bodyshop on the 2nd March and forecast completion is the end of March so there may be component issues (this is all guesswork as there is no hard and fast info available). Shipping could be up to 4 weeks from that so it should be here by early May, possibly before. But it could be later - who knows. If you've added a few bits from Exclusive, it'll go into a separate part of the factory to have them fitted but only for a day or so. You'll get some nice build photos through the 'My Porsche' app/website at some stage as well. If it went into build on the 2nd, I'd expect it to be built by now however if you've specced something like Bose, there'll be a good chance it'll be held at Kornwestheim until a part becomes available.
Once the car is built, unfortunately you're in the hands of the logistics company both in Emden and over here. If you're lucky they'll have a RORO waiting at the docks. Your OPC can tell you which ship it's on and you can track the ship using vessel finder. From reaching CP08 (build complete) to arriving at Grimsby was about a week. It sat there for another week before leaving and arriving at my OPC. Give them a week to PDI and you'll be picking up you're new toy.

Apparently the latest from PORSCHE is that production of GT4/Spyder and T will not go into MY24. Carrara white is no longer available nor is Aventurine or Python. No Carrera Classic or Cayman S alloys, the standard wheel is now Boxster S. Cognac/Espresso leather is on stop and , in the US market anyway, they are encouraging buyers into manual transmissions due to the lack of autonomous braking. And finally, for those that still use it, the CD player will no longer be fitting from week 37.

Ordered my Boxster GTS 4.0 in Oct 21 and I only recently got advised of my build slot, which is from 19 May. I just snuck into MY23 at the old prices and with Aventurine Green too - I was about to cancel the order until that was confirmed. I'm currently expecting delivery in week 2/3 of June.
My car was due to start being constructed last Friday, but its still shown as pending on the system. As I had a reasonable time-limited offer from the local OPC, I've already part-exed my Supra with them, so am using my city car run-around in the meantime and am hoping to finally get my new GTS towards the end of next month. That will mark 20 months of waiting!
