gone from a 986s toa 987 2.7

I am currently running it on 95 Oct and so this could be the problem. Seems to occur if I try to pull away at low revs in 2nd or when parking and not using plenty of revs.
I notice the fuel consumption is worse than before on this tank. Its the first tank I've bought so could be the OPC put higher octane in it although they said they use bog std 95.
Do you all think I'd best use Sains 97 or Tesco 99 to fix both points?

I think its definitely worth a try. Whilst the manual might say that its possible to run it on the "cheap" stuff, they do tend to imply that it is happier on "heavy".

An update about my 2.7 pinking.
I spoke to my supplying dealer yesterday. He said they all do it when you try to pull off with too few revs, just give it a few more revs. He said even 911s do it and this stacks with my experience some years ago when I drove a Cayman and when they loaned me a C4S before I took delivery of mine. Nothing to do with what Octane fuel you use, (OK to use 95).
Pleased I asked them rather than use 97/99 unnecessarily to remedy this. [:)]

No pinking with me - 2.7 "cooking" Boxster Sept. 2007 registered. I normally choose either Tesco or Sainsburys best petrol with the occasional tank of Shell V-power.

My point was if you pull away with insufficient revs all Porsche engines pink

Yes, mine pinks too when using too few revs. My drive's on a slight incline & when I pull in it'll rattle like 4 bolts in an empty coffee jar if I don't keep the revs up. I always go down to 1st now. I previously had an auto & I guess I'd become a bit lazy!

Thanks for confirming this.
I was convinced it was a Porsche engine characteristic as everyone I have ever driven pinks.
No point in using 97/99 the way I drive.
