Good Deal?

ORIGINAL: Hannu I've just bought a GT silver C2s with Cocoa interior and silver belts, I think its a great color combo
Oh dear....I've found out that it has a cocoa hood aswell..... A brown hood on a silver car...hmmmmmm...this has dampened my enthusiasm somewhat!

Wouldn't be my cup of tea....or cocoa for that matter[:)] However, I lost a shed load when I changed from Gen 1 to Gen 2. It didn't make any financial sense at all but there are times when you have to listen to your heart and not your head. Just took a deep breath and.........

Alan My sentiments entirely but isn't the gen2 with PDK something else.

Yep. I know the PDK doesn't float everyone's boat but I love it![:D] And I know the launch control is a bit of a party piece but it's such a laugh all the same. There you are, Hasan, go completely bonkers and get a Gen 2 instead![;)]

The OPC have informed me that they are RAISING the prices on the 2 cars I'm interested in from tomorrow as their quarter is ending tonight. They've been very helpful by emailing me some photos of the hood and interior just now but the deal they offered me ends tonight. I'm lost for words.....raising prices?

I bet they've been helpful. [:)] And they wouldn't be trying to pressurise you into making a decision today by any chance? Personally, I'd call their bluff in these troubled times. Unless, of course, they know something that the rest of us do not!

I've seen that combo on a Boxster, personally I loved it.. but I'm nearly on that sort of spec now, Cocoa/Meteor I would say it would alter the resale slightly as its not as easy for the dealer to shift as in black/black or Silver/black, however many people are after something different from the norm... I have actually seen plenty of GT/Cocoa so its not an exception. Raising prices maybe, but just remind them the residuals have just dropped the price anyhow as another year/month clicks over [;)], I think its scare tactics garyw

Hi Gary, I completely agree that it could have been a tactic to get me to put down a deposit as the £13k to trade up would run out tonight apparently! He said they were making a loss on the car and the price and my offer was to bolster December sales which finished today. As of tomorrow, they are raising the price of the car in an attempt to make a profit on it again I assume!...which I find admiringly bullish but ultimately a bad move as they haven't sold it for 2 months atleast. I think it's quite funny actually. I think I would have gone for it regarding cocoa interior with a black hood...but the cocoa hood looks like it won't age very well. I can imagine that hood in 3/4 years time looking like it had spent too much time in the sun! Onwards and upwards, plenty of cabs out there hey?

you're painting a very pessimistic picture
better than saying "2009 will be fine"" and then being fed up when prices continue to tumble!!
Well just wait until: 1. Porsche continue to cut production. 2. They realise that Euro/Pound parity is hitting the GB hard and put prices up, just like BMW have now done.. 3. The market turns the corner. I think prices in the medium term will actually rise [:D]

I heard from the dealer I purchased mine from that Porsche are cutting back on new builds 30% this year too hold residuals on the market. Maybe this is why pre owned prices may rise slightly ?????[8|] Hasan if you get the car at the right price whats to stop you changing the hood color at a later date/

Hi Hannu, I think the hood on these things are very expensive so that would be uneconomical to do? Interesting to note that they haven't raised the price of the car on the Porsche Car Locator yet......hmmmm [&:]

I think you maybe able to change the colour with a product called Renovo. It might be worth investigating. It is a hood reproofer and recolour product.

I think that would be the equivalent of dying greying hair with Grecian 2000 or Just for Men! Looks like a great product for cleaning and rejuvination, but changing colour?....I wouldn't do it on a £40k+ 997 cab. UPDATE: The car has gone up from £43k yesterday to £52k today!!....astonishing

Talking of production cuts I think you'll see by mid 2009 that every single manufacturer will have significantly cut production of new cars. This is probably a unique period we are in now as there is a huge surplus of new cars due to demand suddenly dropping off a cliff hence some of the incredible deals to be had on new cars at the moment. Once supply drops off to get back in line with demand I suspect deals will be not so good. Ian.

Neither would I, like you said earlier there are plenty of other cabs out there. £52k sounds a bit optimistic (that is a 2006 car, right?)[:)] My former 2007 C2S with 7k miles is only up for £54k[:(] Regarding other posts about 2009 car prices/supply etc it comes back to the old "cost to change" arguments previously discussed hereabouts, no? Unless you're that lucky first time buyer[:D]
