It was raining and the road was dirty but luckily it was nice and wide and no one was coming the other way. I was able to drive out of it no trouble and it is nice to know that when the back breaks away, it goes gently rather than all at once.
Having said that, I hope it doesn't happen again unless I mean it to phew!!
I don't know if it is down the weight distribution, or what, but 944's do seem move around quite nicely, provided you don't try to provoke them or get silly. Pushed into a slide at speed they can bite back hard as, although nicely ballanced, there is a lot of weight moving around which can make it difficult to regain.
Mine did a little sideways shimy this evening and I was only excellerating up a gentle hill.
I know someone who has a 944 back end story. I'll leave it up to him if he wants to share (no, it isn't euphamistically "a friend").
I did spin the cab 270 degrees at a mini-trackday in the summer though - off onto the infield with the engine off and the wipers on, despite the sunshine []
Towards the end of my first ever track day I was starting to get a bit cocky [8|] and pushing the car harder and harder through one particular corner where the tail was stepping out a bit. Thinking I was a driving god I was able to turn into it and control it, only for it to suddenly grip and then flip me right round the opposite way.
I too ended up on the infield with my wipers on and the engine stalled and my pride sufficiently dented. Lesson learned []
I was trying it intentionally, yes i know only got the car 2 weeks. But the sleet was getting heavier than i htought and i only have 2mm on the rear tyres.
Anyway boost and not enough opposit lock as the car straightend then went the other way and keep going till i was back facing the way i was going, all in one nice manouver on a duel carriagway, poped it inot first and drove off, alittle wiser. Wish someone was videoing it mind.
