Edit : B*gger no I haven't ! It worked on Pistonheads [&o]

[:D]

Looks good though; right colour, right wheels etc.

If you wanted to buy it a superb Chrimbo pressie Richard (wolfie308) is selling a set of as-new rear lights with clear indicator lenses already fitted just now.

Looks good indeed. I'd disagree with Fen on the colour (never been a big fan of black cars - another excuse to get the tar and feathers out, eh?), but those Cup 1's are truly delicious!

Thanks for the picture posting tips [:D]

I know - am buying them ! Should look great ! [8D]

Yes she had some black painted D90's on when I got her with some Michelin "semi slicks" on.

Oli - the troubles I have trying to keep her even vaguely clean means the charms of black cars have faded somewhat for me too [:D] Though I do think she looks smart when shiny(ish).

During the time I was looking for a turbo yours sounded better than most that were on offer, I never did go and see it though.

Once upon a time I had a black Renault 5 GT Turbo, and after that I swore I'd never have another black car as it was to difficult to keep it clean. I kept to that for about 12 years, then I bought 2 black MX5s and followed them with a black RS6 and now a black Cherokee. When the Mini goes I'll be looking for a Wrangler to keep it company and ideally that will be black as well.

I think the odd car doesn't suit it (the Mini being a good example or I'd have had a black one of them too) and the RS2 which I looked at in black some years ago. The 944 however I think looks at its best in Satin black, with solid close behind. Of course colour is a personal thing - some people like red for Heaven's sake!

Black cars are nice even though it is a colour that seems to be going out of fashion though. However an '80 Porsche has to be red!! Maybe it is a childhood memory thing in that from my child hood in the '80's I seem to remember all Porsches were red (apart from the metallic green Matchbox 911 I had), but they do look menacing in Black. There aren't many colours a 944 can't carry off I think. I have to confess to even liking the Silver Rose metallic pink colour.

I still have that metallic Kermit green 911 Turbo somewhere - I think it had an oversized Turbo sticker on the side as well, didn't it? Typical Matchbox different scale parts used in the same model and everything.

Weird, isn't it. I've never actually bought a car because it's red, but because it was the right car in every other way at the time. At last count my previous 5 cars are red 944, red Legacy, red 740 Turbo and 2 red escorts. If it's any consolation Subaru red paint is the worst, ford next, Porsche third and Volvo was pretty good. Luckily,as a 740 has a lot of flat surfaces to fade!

With 3 of them being estates I've kept the local Halfords in business over the years with t-cut and polish...[]

Here she is just a week after I bought her, demonstrating both black wheels and the joys of a dirty black car. To be fair had just driven through snow and slush to get to this years Frontrunner event - Those Michelin Pilots were interesting in those conditions ! [&:]

My that looks good on those wheels! Is your car lowered 'cos it looks just right.

Are those genuine Cup 1s and could I please have first refusal?!

A long time ago when they were in their prime I had a black 3.0S capri, then a black RS2000 escort, and then a black 2.8 injection capri, 3 black cars on the trot was enough for me and I haven't owned one since. Wish I'd stuck the RS2 in the garage though, they make silly money now.

He won't have any wheels left after he's sold me those D90's.

The worst car I ever owned was a black one - Mk3 Golf GTi 8v. Ghastly thing. It being black and therefore difficult to clean (and I lived in a 1st floor flat at the time, with very little access to car maintenance or cleaning space) merely made it all the more loathsome.

Therefore, for me, black cars = bad associations.

But, as McNulters said, colour should be the last thing on the list of factors when buying a second-hand car. If the right 944 had come up when I was buying one, in black, I'd have bought it. (As it was I looked at 7 baltic blue ones, and ended up buying a baltic blue one. What are the odds of that, eh?!)
