Hi algray

Am also interested. Sent you email last week requesting some dimensions but perhaps it got lost on the way. Is it still available?? Fixing plate thickness of particular interest as have already tried another make and couldnt fit beacause not enough thread left for the nuts!!

Cheers

Charles & Laura

Sorry Charles & Laura, and KYO, I seem to have a problem recieving PMs. I still have the strut Brace.

The contact area of the strut bar is approx. 5 to 6mm, hope that helps.

email:al_gray@bigfoot.com

How do I set up my PM, that does not seem to work at present ?. [:(]

Reference your observations re the GT2 bar - what is a camber plate, how is it fitted, who stocks them & how much? It sounds like some sort of adapter plate that goes on the strut tower but if so, why "camber " plate?

William
You say you have a "KLA" strut brace that fitted without problems. Who are KLA and is its fixing plates less than 5-6mm thick? - or have I got particularly short studs!!

Thanks guys for the education.

Hi Alex,

I still get the following message when I email al_gray@bigfoot.com:

Your document: Returned mail: Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
was not delivered to: <aldergray@hotmail.com>
because: 550 Too many retries.

It seems bigfoot is forwarding to a hotmail address?

Cheers-

Cheers William

Looks very promising. May well overcome my "short studs" problem.

Hi Charles and laura and all
New to this post/forum,all looks good.

ref the strutt brace, best to use the proper porsche one.As the one in the link with some steel plate that goes around the tower,is not the same as the rs and gt.(not sure if its a porsche one either.)The porsche one has cast ali upright mounts, and fit on the front 2 strutt studs. They fit on what ever tank size and will fit your nuts!
Just take the 2 front nuts of each side, and place the porsche bar on top of the damper/strutt tower, and tighten back up.There must be a little play in the width adjustment of the bar, around 1mm.Can email some photos to you,if you like.
the porsche bar is not expensive, plenty on ebay normaly.
I would say unless you are going to race it,the strutt brace will not do much,as the steel inner wings plus the steel outer wings are very stiff. And would work well on the odd hilclimb/sprint.
Strutt braces are a must have if you use ,plastic front wings,as you lose the rigidity of the steel wings !

Camber /adjustable top mounts are fittted standard to gt2 and rs,but when using the slotts, you need to have the geometry reset to max the setting to there/your best advantage .Other things change as well, like more camber =lower front end of car=wrong pitch on car/nose angle etc [;)]Can get you into a horribly handling car if not carefull.but can also transform the car as well, with care!
sorry we missed you the other day

paul.

Well, if the 993rs reg sec isn't a member I don't know what this club is coming to! Some one sort him out! LOL! So sorry to have missed you last weekend - you could have looked at our struts and nuts and things. Still, the next generation took very good care of us and it was good to see the two new "roundy roundy tools" both of which would look very nice on a hill even if they wouldn't handle up one. Thanks for the info on the strut brace. We will look at it carefully and perhaps give you a ring and have a natter. Make sure you tell us when you are testing at Donington or Mallory.

Regards
Laura

Hi laura
hoping to take the roundy thing to mira, see if we can get the trap speed even higher!I think it will also be fun trying to thread it through the gate posts of wiscombe,of which i intend to try!Sadly can only make about 4 or 5 speed events this season,as nearly all the rounds clash with the open & club champs.Of which i have promised graham,i would commit to.And of course the bonus of racing the gt2 at the same venues as graham.[;)]

Hi
Yes still running the993rs slightly modified! Its in pieces at the moment, I am modifying the chassis and wishbone bushes etc Also i have a problem with a valve guide which has decided to move back up in to the head on a exhaust valve, it was probably moaning, at doing 8000rpm!But luckily no damage done to the head.

Nice bit about shelsley walsh and myself in cristo mag,i nearly missed it, the red car on the line is our old 75 rs that my son and dad have been racing in .Its been in the family for 23 years now!

I will only be doing about 4 or 5 rounds in the speed champs this year, as a lot of dates clash with the Porsche open and club champs. We will be doing all the club circuit races, as graham my son is campaigning a 1978 3.0 sc in class 2.If any one wants some tickets for any of the races, just call me, as we normally have a few around, and would be good to see a few more club members at the races. Its strange we don't see that many ,and i am sure most would enjoy it.

I am running my new race car in class 1 of the porsche open series ,a 1997/98 RHD evo2 993 gt2 motor sport shell, of which the factory made 2,it has a RS Tuning/ex factory full 600bhp race engine &Box, and all the carbon bits, doors, wings, spoilers etc and weights only 1100kg.It should be reasonably competitive ,and i will need all the horses i can get to challenge Richard chamberlain and car! Also got to learn to drive it quickly, as it has a flat floor and down force wings etc,so in theory the quicker i go the more grip it should have to a point!!

The 993cup car has been sold to a good home near Peterborough, and will be in the Porsche open again this year. I will probably regret selling this car, it was rather special, being a ex factory via car, and the last to be of the 993 cups(1997/98

Regards
paul.
