GT4 Numbers and Values ...

I let my 19 year old have a go in mine last night on some quiet roads, no cover, my risk. It was a bit much for him compared with his 1.2 Clio so he didn't get out of 3rd or above 40mph and passed it back to me.

As for the rest of this thread, use the bloody things, driving them is where the real value lies. Mine has 5k miles and a couple of stone chips. It's about to get more of each in Benelux next week (Spa, Zandvoort) with a bunch of mates but I ran it in properly, will drive with some caution and I expect to have a great time in my GT4, just as Porsche intended. No plans to sell and besides, look at Cayman Rs, fetching pretty much what people paid for them when new. GT4s will always be suitably expensive. I expect to enjoy my 'free car' for years to come.

How can you expect to enjoy them if you don't even run them in or get used to them.

No, but rather high excess. The insurance company made a bit of an exception as they are fairly successful racers. In fact, my daughter is the current British GT4 Champion.

 
My Son is now in his 30's and we shared the drive at Cadwell Park in April --- no insurance, no need --- he loved it and by the end of the day he wasn't holding many people up (well, not for long !)

I will actually be very pleased if values fall. I remember as the very best of times the old 964RS trackday fraternity before the cars values went above around £100k and everybody decided that they were getting rather old and valuable to push to and beyond their normal limits (for both driver and car) !!

Will the GT4 pick up this mantle ? Particularly if values settle at around £55k in a few years time ?

As an aside, if driven with gusto the cost of tyres, brakes, frequent spanner checks, fluid changes, trackdays and associated costs are not to be sniffed at --- but this is where living the dream starts. In my dreams I am ... improving :)

The only thing I regret is not having pant to sample. I would have gone for Maritime Blue in memory of Ulrich Richter's 964RS N-GT which I owned and did over 20k Km in ... Vin ending 9011 !!

The funny thing is, I didn't know it was his when I bought it ! I discovered this talking with Hacki at Spa who owns the only 964Cup Tiptronic -- yes Porsche tested one.

I think the Osnabruck line is still running until the end of next week Steven, so there's still time for someone to usurp your potential claim..!

So now we arrive at October and the base 2016 price seams to be £90k - so still £10k on overs .... Sure, guys who cashed out at £30k are sitting with their heads high and wallets brimming but i think the GT4 will now hover at £90k to £100k until the new GT4 arrives in probably 2018/19 so all in all a very safe bet and more importantly a car that just gets better and better the more you spend time in the drivers seat ...!

 
I would expect the prices of most premium cars (new and classic) to further flatten as we move into the winter period.

And, 991GT3 prices must surely subside as the Gen 2 launch process steps into gear - which could start to compress the values of similar cars. Surely there's more stock and turnover than buyers?

However, a well known specialist once told me that they could detect the likely state of the next year's market from Boxing Day. Once Christmas Day and the winter solstice had passed, keen buyers were starting to see the summer, and buying habits take shape. My local Caterham dealer always has the most enquiries in Jan/Feb.

None of which should worry anyone who has bought a GT3, GT4 or whatever, purely for their long term qualities and enjoyment factor.

 
Good spec GR car (IMO) in PH classifieds for a fiver under £85K. I guess the new price with the options listed would have made it £75K on the invoice (is that about right D?). So £10K over original and therefore prices creeping ever closer towards the 'cost' price. Might get there by the end of the month but the odds are no quite in my favour for winning the bet. [;)]

 
Panic ... haha ! Its one of the best cars Porsche has ever made so just sitting tight is the best bet until the 2017 GT3 is available - in the mean time i have a Golf Clubsport S on order to pass the time ... [8D]

Not a bad buy that but it is 7k miles and owner admits to a few stone chips and the like. prob a £73k car looking at spec. Mine was £75k with PDSL's and a few more bits.
