Gutted - low life scum

Some moron has decided to walk over my car during the night. Scratches on bonnet, roof and tail, but worst of all, three sizeable dents in the roof, one of which is a slight crease on the join to the rear screen. Have to take it to bodyshop this week. How do they repair dents in the roof? Do they have to take the inner roof lining out etc? One dent is over the centre light cluster so won't be easy. Expensive? Need to check out how much, might have to be an insurance claim.

No other car touched, usual story. What is it about an element in this country that they hate success - just because you have a nice car your'e a target. That's twice now, someone sprayed orange paint on the side once, just mine and the Mustang in the street, didn't touch any other cars including my wife's sitting next to mine.

Police can't/won't do anything

Can't tell you how angry I am on a public forum

Really Sorry Johny... Nevertheless think of it this way, it is better to be the one who has than the one who hates... Cheers

That's dreadful. Nothing but pure jealously and spitefulness. While it's of no help to you, what comes around, goes around so one way or another they'll pay the price.

Johny I am really sorry to hear what has happened, it is a sickening feeling to come back to your car and see damage like that. I get so mad when I hear about things like this[] The bonnet of my TVR was scratched recently, quite deep too and in a position that it had to be someone that did it on purpose, as had something fallen on him, or had it been a stone the damage would have been different. Makes my blood boil [] Hope that you get it fixed ok and it is not too expensive

My sympathies. I bet it was kids - flaming nanny state - this is the result - kids who do what they like coz they know they can get away with it.

Firstly, sorry to hear of this - you have my commiserations; I've had it done to two of my cars in the past - scumbags [] Roof dents can be a problem. It depends how much the metal has been stretched and where. The one over the light is where it's double-skinned, so that's even trickier. You might wind up with needing a new roof panel. Inform the insurance 'cos I suspect you'll need to claim.

Really bad luck Johny. I suggest that you tell your local police station. There might have been a spate of these incidents and the police might know who to speak to. Also ask them to check any local CCTV cameras and/or check your vehicle for footmarks and fingerprints. They really should do this for you. Good luck.

bad luck. I had someone reverse into my first Porsche 1 week after buying it and drive off. In the next few weeks I had curry thrown all over it and a door kicked in. I learnt the hard way. Now I never leave my car where I cannot see it or it isn't safe . I have watched kids staggering home from the pub ripping all the car wing mirrors off until I shouted out my bedroom window at them.

I called the police the moment I saw it and later that day someone called back to say unless they had a person in custody at that moment with the same trainers then there was nothing they could do. I took very clear photos of the trainer sole design, but what are the chances, nil I'm afraid. Case closed. Trouble is, now that they've done it once, it might be just as funny to them to do the same again next weekend. I can't stay awake all night. There is no cctv around.Maybe owning a nice car without a drive/garage is a non starter. Not a good day all round, later that day I was coming down a very steep and narrow ramp in a car park and the front spoiler hit the ground fairly hard despite going at 1mph, then I immediately kerbed my immaculate back wheel. GRRRRRRRRRRR. Doesn't feel the same looking at my car with the dents in the roof and the scratched alloy. Having a bit of a crisis day - woke up this morning and someone has parked literally one inch from my bumber so I can't get out of the space.... WeeJohnyB

Really sorry to hear of your woes. Makes me feel sick imagining how I would feel if I came out to find that done to mine. Hope you can get it back to pristine condition soon. What neck of the woods are you in? Is there anyway to rent a garage in your area? I know several others around the Forum have found it the only way to get peace of mind.

Could the towrag who parked one inch from your car have it in for you and be the same moron who trod on your roof.

you can get CCTV for around £50.00 quid now so maybe the answer is to put up a highly visible camera with flashing LEDs and a sign [link=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Digital-Motion-Detect-Video-Recorder-DVR-CCTV-Camera-5D_W0QQitemZ120344636294QQihZ002QQcategoryZ48632QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem]http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Digital-Motion-Detect-Video-Recorder-DVR-CCTV-Camera-5D_W0QQitemZ120344636294QQihZ002QQcategoryZ48632QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem[/link] I got one of these with a wireless led low light colour camera . It records continuously to a SD memory card and has motion detect and continous operation. It auto loops over previous recording every 2 days or so and you just download the video from the card to a PC and view it in Win media player 30fps

ORIGINAL: w852dh1 this country needs to start looking after the people who fund its existance and not look after the leaches who keep taking from it.
not pc you know [;)] this country needs a big shakeup .Maybe if we start dealing with these issues ourselves things may change. The mood of the Government at the moment is supposed to be a man's home is his castle and we have a right to expect protection from scumbags .

I agree but unfortunately this is a very fine line to tread. Whilst visiting a friend in a very nice area of UK, which he had recently moved too, we noticed three youths standing on the bonnet of his neighbours Boxster p***ing in the front seats, while it was parked on his drive! The neighbour rushed out got a torrent of abuse and turned on his heels and went back into his house. My mate and I "challenged" the youths and when the police arrived it was us who spent the night in the cells. No charges were levied, however it was a real possability..........my friend is a lawyer as was the neighbour. They are not friends and the neighbour has subsequently moved house. This was five years ago. The youths were all 15 and all had been using illegal substances.....no charges were brought! I beleive the we lack a sense of community. Several neighbours witnessed these proceedings and similar acts had been apparently taken place over several months.........wouldn't happen in my street!

I am really sorry to hear that mate and can totally sympathise with you. I used to live in a street where mobs of kids used to maraud around the street getting up to no good and misstreating people’s property. I regularly used to see them hoof foot balls down the street and bang on peoples cars and think nothing of it. I also saw them doing what happened to your car and immediately reported it to the police, who were not in the slightest bit interested. The most recent incident is where I parked up in town in a quiet car park and watched as two youths on bikes came into the car park just as I was walking away. My sixth sense told me something wasn’t right about them and so I pretended to walk off but hid. I then watched one of them flick his hood up , look around and walk over to my car, bend down to the rear wheel and tried to get my hub badges off. I came legging round and caught the little sh*t before he could do anything. Of course all I got was lip from him and all I wanted to do was beat the toe-rag to a bloody pulp, but sadly I would have got in to more trouble and he knew that (and that’s what annoys me most). I called the police and reported the incident but again they were not interested because nothing had been damaged. I have to say I am also paranoid about it now where I should be enjoying my car. The law in this country is definitely and ass and a complete joke. I certainly think you should be allowed to protect your property. Maybe if these idiots got a good kick-in they may think twice about doing it again. Unfortunately this country is too PC now and the little t*sers would probably get sent on a holiday at tax payers expense.

The only way this situation will change would be through a change of Government - there's too many "nanny state" cronies in New Labour. I feel ashamed now that I helped vote them in.
