Have 'S's really reached this value ?

Re the mint green car (which i rather like)- In my view it's individual yes, not to everyones tastes of course, but not dull. I think it more tasteful than many modern cars for the same money, though against a pure and simple S in a standard colour will not be on most prospective Porsche owners buy list.

regards to all

(Lee - your pastel yellow car sounds rather nice - would you be able to post up some pictures?)

I probably follow the pricing aspect a little more than most through general interest. The S is a thing of great beauty for sure and especially that rear view - stood slightly to one side. Side profile also great I feel. Front end looking back - well I rarely take any pics from that angle. Not her best light I would say.

IMHO S prices have remained pretty flat for last 24 months. My little excel model says this car is worth £39k private assuming usual good providence/inspection/condition. So not so far off....

Gosh! I didn't think it would cause that much of a stir! I think you'll find there are more fatties in there than thinnies! Can't believe Beyonce's isn't included! Would go for Charlotte Church myself, she's great fun, her rear's as wide as my 'S', and she probably makes as much noise! A well tuned noise!

Just making a lone vote for the non-S - but I'm bias!

Sleek with wonderfully subtle curves.
Slightly faster (apparently).
Understated
Cheaper
Fits in my drive
I've got one[;)]

Me too ! (but im biased too !)
..and a number of others agree also on a thread over at PH ..

Blimey, we are all getting carried away, aren't we [8|]? Yes the 2S and 4S are fantastic looking 4rses, but I still say why pay another (at least) £10k for the sake of that? Take look at a good example of a "˜narrow' body 993 and see that the beauty of that great rear design is surely not a million miles away from "˜the beloved S'[;)].

Whatever the £ factor, the real value to me is the experience every time I drive it.

Hear, hear "" that's what it's (nearly) all about!

The wide body 993 is THE best looking 911 they ever made period. It took me 3 months to find mine and the reality is even better than the dream. I can't see these cars lower than 30k but this is spec dependant. Tiptronic seem to be more readily available and seem to be 5k less expensive than manuals. The other thing is colour . I almost brought a vesuivius an acquired taste but it would of been a pig to shift afterwards.

Wrinkly does your car have the side skirts too ? I was thinking of just adding the turbo S lip spoiler.

Funny how opinions differ. The narrow body 993 is so much nicer than the S. Same with 964 and 3.2 where same applies. Pure form follows function, fling not bling.

And whilst might agree the 993 is one of the nicest post 74 911s ever made it doesn't come close to an early 911 in appeal.

Careful Ian, that's fighting talk ;-)
Have a thing for the widebodies myself... although some of these prices are getting a tad on the high side for whats now a 10yr old car... albeit a great one.
Problem is, once you have one, it's very tough to let it go... if everyone thinks the same way then it's a sellers market.

Aye, but we are all one big happy family really.

BTW been following your thread about your 964 RS special. Great car you have aquired.

Ian.

Thanks Ian, its a honour to be the guardian of something like that for a few years... although interestingly it's made me appreciate the 993 C2S all the more... still has good grunt and good handling without the compromises... allows me to pretend the C2S is a sensible family GT!
