He Bent My Baby

Graham,

If the rear quarter panel needs replacing, then your nearing the territory that my car has had in repairs. The quarter panel alone is about £700 + VAT! And that doesn't include the labour to get it off, place the car on a jig, and put the new one in place.

I can vouch for a Porsche Approved repairer doing an excellent job, and your car will be as new when you get it back, but I can also confirm that it will take blinking ages (I'm now looking at "the middle of next week" - it went in on Feb 17th.)

The boot floor in mine was slightly kinked also, on the left hand side beside the wheel well (which itself got replaced) - they straightened this out rather than replace the entire boot floor - and a can confirm that it looks like new now.

Good luck - hope you make the right decision for yourself!

Well Carl I havn't quite matched your original estimate. ine was waiting on the mat when I got home from Silverstone this evening. all up inc. VAT etc mine is £7330, so now it realy is decision time as to my future charriot.

Bad news Graeme []

I know you wanted an OPC repair and I'm sure you have thought about using other bodyshops. Are there any Porsche specialists close to you? I'm thinking along the lines of Clubautosport, 9M (probably not cheaper), Porscheshop etc

Well guys it's now official, my car will be written off by the insurance company. It looks like we will have to go to Walton Hall in the daily driver Poxhall Cavalier Tractor (Diesel)
I only wish we could streatch to buy Slim's car but I doubt he would drop £3k off the asking to keep it alive here in the forum (would you Slim?) So here begins the long hunt for a replacement.

Bad news Graham - sorry to here about it.

Now let the vultures circle[;)]

Might be worth asking how much to buy your old car back - I worked out that the bits that could be salvaged on mine came to about £3-4K (possibly more with people paying silly prices for little bits on e-bay!), so it's worth asking. The extra cash might make you able to stretch for Slim's car.
