Clean new ones and refreshed wiring usually makes a difference. There used to be a kit available which (I think) added a relay and direct power feed plus some bigger wattage bulbs - John S and Rick have it I think. I also think the kit was intended in the US to have Cibie lenses, but I think they weren't necessary in the UK. Note if you buy from eBay that the unit needs to have metal lugs on it - the type that are just held in by a bezel (VW Golf etc.) don't fit. Last dealer one I bought was 40-odd notes.

Iceshark? Don't think it's still available, but if not it should be. Along with Flamingeye! [&o]There used to be a kit available which (I think) added a relay and direct power feed plus some bigger wattage bulbs - John S and Rick have it I think.

I have a smashed headlamp. I have seen plenty on eBay, and they are only about £20 max, but wondered whether there any recomended cheap upgrades worth considering - because, let's be honest, they are prety poor in the performance aspect!
Here are the golf ones, they dont look to hard to make. They are dead easy to make if you know how a relay works. Four relays, some uprated bulbs, some connectors and a few metres of thick wire and you're away for less than a tenner. Fuse it to be sure - it'll add another quid. Seriously, it's so easy it's not worth writing instructions. (I have all the bits to do the job in my basement, but have never got 'round to doing it!) Oli.

Are you sure that youre looking at the correct lamps (assuming that theyre new)? The reason I ask is that early cars and 924s use a cheap lamp, but later cars require a far more expensive part. If the replacement is for your S2 then the cheap parts wont be suitable.ORIGINAL: trev260764 I have a smashed headlamp. From what i can gather the later cars use a different lamp due to something to do with the electrical height adjustment.

Me again! I do need to get a headlamp for drivers side (and will get some 'better' bulbs). I don't seem to have electrical height adjustment, although I have a 1990 S2 (where is the switch?). Current Hella units have codes on lens: Drivers side 7144R7 7144R20 002-116560 Pasenger side 7R017144 027144 201-116560 Does this look like it will suit? Ah! I knew that! Passenger side adjusts but not drivers. Guess I need a new motor. Are Owners-manuals difficult to come by? Don't understand the heating / air-con at all!!

I used to see them all the time at the book stands at Husborne Crawley Autojumble and when the club used to organise large Autojumbles but I haven't seen one for ages. I would bet they are still available from Porsche if you called your local OPC or ExeterORIGINAL: trev260764 Are Owners-manuals difficult to come by? Don't understand the heating / air-con at all!!
