Headlamp unit

I might take the other one off your hands as one of mine doesn't work - just need to check that it's the right side!

Trev are you talking about the motor that lifts the headlamp pod up, or the motor to work the height adjustment of the headlight. If the latter, I'd be interested to know how easy it is to fix it as one of mine has never worked, but I've not got round to doing anything about it
 
I need a height-adjuster for drivers side Phil. Mine is missing altogether! Only had the car a couple of weeks so no idea what the story is (see previous picture). No idea how difficult it is to fit - but will give it a go!
 
Just checked and I need the height adjuster for the passenger side - perfect![:D] Not worked out how it comes out - seems to just be clipped in place?

Mmmmm. Headlight height-adjustment motors .... how do you know if they work or not? As in, I have the roller thingie in front of the gearstick, and have twiddled it from time to time, but have no idea whether it does anything. And the headlights work fine ... Park in front of a wall with the lights on and adjust it? Would the movement of the light patches be noticable? (Is this another thing on my car that can go wrong that I can start to worry about? [:eek:] ) Oli.
 
Yeah they would move up and down. I noticed that on my 944 that the passenger side only moved. The motor is VERY noisy also, and seems to 'hunt' for position once you adjust the dial. As mentioned earlier - the reason the drivers side doesn't move is cos there is no motor fitted!
 
it's not an MOT requirement so I've never worried about mine not working, but I will try and sort it some time soon let me know how easy it is Trev

Well, you should be able to hear them, if the engine's off and you're not parked next to Wembley Stadium when Oasis are playing, but you will (should!) see the top of the beam move up and down as you flex your finger. Despite me cleaning up the connections on the 'duff' motor, only the driver's side beam moves as above.

I fitted an HID conversion into mine which will out-perform 'uprated' bulbs.
