Headlight Cracking........Porsche washing off responsibility.......POOR

Did you get anywhere with requping the cost of replacing your lights?

I have the exact same issues with both lights, mine is a 2015 991.1, it annoys me every time I walk up to the car.[]

I get them replaced and hope the same issue does not arise again....[]

Porsche UK would not contribute or admit liability. They offered to polish them for £100 each which I accepted and to be fair, they did a really good job. It has put me off buying any more Porsche though.

Same here.

The frankly absurd pricing of servicing along with shrugging off responsibility on clearly sub-standard componentry has removed any thought of buying a modern Porsche.

My 981 Spyder is now with a new owner and I won't be buying again (though I'd buy a 987 again!)

Cheers

Just following up to see if there's been any progress by anyone on this?

I purchased a 2016 718 3 weeks ago in mint condition and whilst I was away last week having left the car parked up on my driveway both headlights have mad crazing on them. The car's not been washed as only done less than 400 miles in it in the 2 weeks I was around and I'm being told by the Porsche dealer I purchased it from that...

"the headlamps on your car are polycarbonate and then have a hardened coating to help to protect the lens from damage, this coating can be damaged by “outside influences” including but not solely cleaning products and coatings".

I accept if I'd done something to the car it would be my responsibility but for it to have happened whilst parked up for a week is ridiculous.

Just a thought. If the headlights have been ceramic coated by the previous owner, could it be the coating that has cracked? You may find that a light polish using a machine polisher will remove the coating and restore the lens.

Worth a punt and probably wont do any more damage than has already been done.
