Anyone know if tickets for the PCGB Classic rvent at Hedingham are on sale prior to the event as in previous years? I've seen nothing in PP[8|]

Big Advert on Page 11 of current PP says see event web site http://www.classicsatthecastle.com/

but if you then click on "tickets" it only mentions tickets on the gate price or a package deal including lunch, the price for which is yet to be announced.

All sounds a bit strange to me[&:] Previous years have had reduced price tickets prior to event - I have never been to an event of any type before where I did not know what the ticket price was - what's going on?

Yes now clicked on tickets £20.00 on gate - Seems steep to me to park in a field.

yes the price does seem steep but last year i ended up buying tickets in advance which i couldn't use in the end as my car broke down on the way to event. []

i always take a picnic so i'm not interested in the "yet to be announced" package deal.

Just atook a quick look at the Hedingham Castle web site. You can go to other events Medival Battles etc for less than half what they want from us and a quick cut and paste of another car event that took place in June this year is below:-

----------------------

So the June event is Free!! And they (who ever is organising - not PCGB?) want £20.00 and extra for a passenger from us ????????????????????

Seems steep to me as well.

Its seems very odd to me that there is no mention of the Porsche Club GB on the site - anywhere. I can only assume that this is not an official club sanctioned event.

If that is correct and this is not run by the club itself I wonder just how the finances are controlled and who is making the profit!! A lot of sponsors and high gate prices will no doubt bring a handsome amount of income.

Maybe I am being overly cautious, but something just doesn't appear to stack up here.

I can only assume that this is not an official club sanctioned event.

But hold on Peter - we went from having one main event every year to having three. And this is one of them - The Classic.
The other two being the Modern event and the Middle years!
I thought this was done at the request of Porsche Cars GB and if we ran the tree events they would sponsor ie support in more ways than one ie display cars etc (and money I guess)

So this event certainly may raise some questions? [&:]

Hi

I have just booked my ticket for this event & it cost me £20 & Passanger, I asked if there was an discount for a one driver car & was told no so unless your taking a Friend or your Wife your pay extra for being single.

Last years event there was an discount if you went on your own £15.00

But by book early I will get a Limited Edition Events Poster limited to the first 100 early bookings, so like this I'm paying £5 for this poster. Yours Kevin.[&o]

or look at it from a diffrent (my point of view) angle...if i take 2 cars for display, then i have to pay £40 (double what everyone else their is paying)to get in. not to mention the petrol and wear and tear driving the 3 hour journey there (and then back again)in pre 1973 cars. []
so i'll just be taking the one car this year = my tickets already purchased.[:)]

Having spent a week in the new forest away with the family where having a day out cost at least 100 quid I personally recon £20 for a day looking at all things Porsche of which u have a natural interest, in a great setting is actually a bargain. Also it supports the club that you want to be a continued member of. Tick tick tick, blue touch paper lit, wait for it..........

David - take a look at all the literature (ie ads web site etc ) I can not see a mention our Club - so I don't follow how it can support our Club when I reckon its not a PCGB event! I would love someone to prove me wrong.

I've not checked but I'll take your word for it. Nonetheless £20 for a day looking at the best cars EVER!! Serious bargain

Just been spending a week in the New Forest as well, did you spot me whilst you were there? Had a few great drives out in the 944 [:)]

If it's not a Club event how is it supporting the Club by going? Not a reason to avoid it, just that it's not seeming as if it's benefitting the Club as such. I do struggle with the cost compared to Porsche and Polo, but then it's a lot cheaper than Blenheim was.....

A copy of my post (see 5) from earlier in this thread which I have repeated below:- If another group of people can organise a Classic Car show at the same venue and the people who are bringing there cars get in for FREE and the Public only pay £8.00 to enter How come whoever set up the Classic event wants £20.00? Where is the entry money going if its not going to the Club?

I did actually spot a couple of 944's now u
mention it. One in particular on the approach into lyndhurst ( was red I think). I'd love to have a weekend down here in the 993. I'm with the family in a range rover this week and heading over to sandbanks for a week now. Looking forward to getting back for a drive in the car.

Hi John

Just adding my two penneth worth here

Something is clearly at odds here. I mentioned my concerns in my previous post.

Let's hope that the directors who are active forum users read this thread and put to bed any misconceptions about this event and let us know if this really is a Porsche Club GB organised event or not.

I see that the event has had numerous full page adverts in Porsche Post and these do not come cheap. Organised PCGB events for members would be advertised FOC but none PCGB events would pay a considerable amount for a full page advert. Which category is this is and if the latter has this been paid?

There are a lot of questions to be asked and not least the cost to enter the event and where the proceeds of gate receipts will be going.

There may well be no cause for concern whatsoever and we could all be barking up the wrong tree. However I for one would like to know if the board has seen, accepted and approved a complete business plan for the event (and past events at this venue). Will the financial aspects of the event be published in the club accounts for the year next April? Was the last event at Heddingham signed off as financially viable and approved by the board?

Perhaps the event organisers, Jamie Richardson, Fred Hampton and Simon Bowrey could shed some light and put our concerns to rest.

It's not a secret society - it's a car club - and concerns like this should be aired.

my understanding (and i could well be wrong) is this has never been a PCGB organised event. But since the very start is has been sponcered by Porsche GB & Porsche club GB. this year for reasons i know nothing about Porsche Clubs sponcership seems to have been dropped.
