Hello Again!

Thanks for the answers chaps, Well I decided against the 944 in the end, I added up how much I needed to spend to get it right and it also doesn't fit the 2 seat convertible brief. I was in Dove House on Thursday and had a chat with Tony and Simon about it (as well as Z4 vs 986 debate)

Blade: I use Dove House in Rushden rather than TWG, much better quality work and owned by a mate of mine.

Drove a Z4 3.0 and a 2.7 Boxster today though....and am still in turmoil!

The Z4 was a great all-round good car; comfortable, modern, great driving position, easy to drive with sharp handling and great thrust with a fine soundtrack, it was everything I expected it to be. The only downside was I found it a bit skittery over the back roads, but that could just be tyres/pressures. It was the auto version, but it worked very well, apart from nannying back into auto when trying to run it in manual/sequential mode

disappointingly cheap feeling on the inside, but it is a generation older than the Z4. Driving position is ok with just enough legroom but the pedals seem rather high. I bit more of a handful around town, but straight away you felt connected to the car and what was going on, then we got some open road and I floored it.....that yowl when it got into its stride was awsome, right behind your ears with associated lunge down the road, I was grinning! So, the Z4 would be the bext everyday car, easiest to live with, cheaper to run and performs brilliantly, very much the better car according to my head, and probably the most appealling to Senior Management. However, the Boxster has a sense of occasion, you feel connected to the car and road, it talks and communicates, it moves you... I need to discuss this with Management tonight when she gets home and get her to drive them both this week, if she can get on with the Boxster then we might have a winner..!

I wonder if TWG have taken your portrait down now then? [;)]

so, as an update I am now the proud owner of a Porsche again.....this time a 986.2 3.2 S in Seal Grey!!

Needs a service and the stereo amp has blown, but it is booked in to Dove House on the 28th for an inspection and service and I have found a stereo place that can fit my Alpine Bluetooth head unit and make upba loom to bypass the blown amp for a lot less than even a secondhand and.

So far I am loving it, that flat 6 yowling behind your ears is quite addictive!!

Welcome back Jez. David: it needs so much money spending that I have had to save up (decided to buy better sills and wing repair panels than the ones that I had - the car has been waiting for them to start for so long that it now needs a lot more metal in it, too). Ruddy: every picture I see of your Boxster has you driving it...

Thanks Simon, Glad you are still looking after her and have plans to return her to her Pink Greatness! will look forward to seeing her back on the road!

Just had the Boxster into Dove House and other than new front disks/pads it has a clean bill of health, just a few niggles to work through over the coming year, which is a huge relief

Also found out it had a new engine in 2008, so will contact the OPC to try and get more detail
