Hello from the Ringhaus!

Apart from the fact you can hire THEIR cameras

Edit :- I can no longer find referance to the official cameras maybe they've stopped using those too.

You cant film (legally) on the `ring for the reasons I mentioned earlier.

..and finally, the picture the trip was worth all the (quite alarming!) expense for....

Will be blown-up, framed and hung in my office for many years to come...

Looks great - how much did the pic cost?

Oh, and what did you do for insurance when you were there? Was it on a TF day or a full track day?

Pic was euro 7.50 I think. Didn't get insurance for the 'Ring, and we went on a couple of tourist days...

Don't forget the really expensive bit will be the next 5 or 10 trips.... [:D]

I'd recommend a helmet next time though...and insurance

Where from? I've done a fair bit of looking and I can't find anyone who will cover you for third-party damage on TF days? I am going to Germany in the summer (driving round various bits for a week), and planned on doing a couple of laps - nothing serious, just to blat around in the 944 really, I have other outlets for stupidity and I don't want to ruin my holiday aside from anything else!

I think though what he meant was don't do TF days do organised track days instead. My understanding is that this gets you round the 3rd party claim problem, then your next problem is getting cover for your car. My race car for example is fully comp for road driving and a certain number of days PA on UK and French tracks, the specific 2 exclusions being Spa and the ring.

Not exactly...

Agreed that trackdays with a UK TDO gets you round the insurance problem. There are still a few ways of getting TF cover, even if it's only third party, which is after all, much more important. Problem is that anyone with cover is very wary of divulging the details - on the basis that if lots of people sign up, the chance of one major claim goes up, and that might be all it takes for the underwriter to pull the cover. I believe that there are still some mainstream insurers who don't have a specific (or even non-specific "prepared course etc..) exclusion, although I haven't looked recently.

I do know of someone whose policy excluded the "nuremburgring" so he decided that he was covererd for the nurburgring [:D]
