Hello

I see. During the week i commute via train so dont use it at all. So it is just for weekends really. They wont scratch the car right?

Not as long as the car (and the inside of the cover!) is clean...
A good fit is also important (why I mentioned that mine is - a perfect fit), because the wind will not then cause the cover to flap against the car, and chafe/wear the paint.

Thanks man. I got a price for a Cover: 2003 PORSCHE BOXSTER S Convertible/Coupe (2 Door)/Custom Fit/ Car Cover/ 2 Mirror Pockets/ Size G2 - Custom Fit Car Covers NOAH® (Options: Custom Fit Car Cover - NOPI Guy) , only $158 dollars. I called Porsche today and they were asking £200+ for a cover, what a rip! With the current exchange rate, even with shipping costs i will be saving. More money to burn up in fuel, yay!!!

Whilst am at it, whats a decent oil to use? In my type r i was using shells fully synthetic oil. I remember the dealer telling me to use Mobil. Any specific/reccommended one?

You may as well get the locking cable and perhaps storage bag whilst you are ordering - the cable will help make sure the cover stays on the car (and that It can't be nicked!)

Mobil 1 is the oil.
0W40 is the factory fill weight.

I think i shall definately get the cable and lock!! Probably get some local scallies nicking it otherwise!!
Cheers for the info.. Cant wait for tomo, can drive the car again, not touched it since sunday!! so addictive.

Have you compared the price with their UK site http://www.covercraft-europe.com/, I'm pretty sure you will have to pay custom duty and VAT when getting it from States... and I was quoted $60 for P&P for an ebay purchase of the same cover from States...

Anyway, I would recommend NOAH as I just bought one in California last week for $105 from one of their retail spares shop. It takes 3 days to get it in so my mate is going to bring it along next month...

My experience was that even with Postage and Customs they are cheaper from Big Sky.
Delivery was fast as well[:)]

That's exactly what I was worried about at first. It will not scratch as long as you make sure that you have a good wax on the car and that both it and the inside of the cover are clean. Also, make sure that it is tied on so that it has a snug fit and will not flap around in the wind.

I just got my car cover delivered.. Was well quick from www.bigskycarcovers.com. And it worked out almost £80 cheaper than getting it from the UK.

However, I have no car to put it on!

I started the car up on friday evening not having touched it all week. It started up fine and then it started making a crackling noise.I looked under the car and oil was gushing out!

Only got the car back 2 weeks ago having the petrol meter being fixed! This time its being taken to Colchester OPC as had problems with the workmanship at Brighton! Not having much luck with my Porsche.. [:(]

ORIGINAL: mominator

I have just bought a boxster s, an upgrade from a civic type r!! What a move!! This car is awesome!!

ps: nice site!!

How quick do you find the S compared to the civic? I ask because one chased me the other day and I couldn't shake him off. I know they're good cars, but I wondered if maybe it had been 'fettled'...

the civic is very nippy to about 110 mph.. after that its a little slow (but not that slow!). The civic does 0-60 in about 6.3 secs when worn in! I deffo find the S quicker, doesnt seem to get sluggish at higher speeds.

How quick do you find the S compared to the civic?

does my memory serve me right - did I hear Tiff say the Civic Type R was faster around their track than the boxster on fith gear the other night??!!!

Yes, you heard right! It upset me too. But the Porsche has the edge really - it's associated with older men satisfying the male menopause. Honda's are just associated with older men:ROFLMAO:
