Help - Engine won't start

Hi All,
I re-connected the line to the accumulator then ran the pump with ammeter connected, it started at 2Amps then slowly increased to 4Amps. I then disconnected the line out of the pump and removed the non-return valve, then ran the pump again. The delivery was about 100ccs in 30 seconds and the current draw was 3.5 to 4 Amps.
I will order a new pump on Monday!!!
I'll let you know.
Paul.

Hi All,
Finally tested the car yesterday and running fine again. Laurence had the answer, the real problem was the fuel tank sender was wrong, so yes there was no fuel in the tank!!!!!!!!! In my defence I had no reason to suspect the gauge not working and the low level light was not on.
As a considence there is an article in Porsche Post this month about stripping down the sender unit which I also did yesterday and checked the readings against an ohm meter. The empty level shows 67 ohm in stead of 70 ohms so it will now be incorrect for the low level, therefore I put 20 litres in the tank and noted the reading on the gauge, then anoth 20l and checked again. I might put another 20l in againand I will have the calibration of the gauge.
Any way thanks to everyone for their help, I have learnt a lot about the car so the exercise was not a total waste and I now have a spare fuel pump.
Cheers,
Paul.
