Help - Independent Porsche Specialists Scotland

Glad you are happy with the service and price .The thing being as far as I beleive if you bought a new car with full Porsche 2 year warranty and took it along to one of the independants and let them service it and stamp the book and at some point the car had to have warranty work done on it Porsche would not accept this as the company is not a official Porsche centre and could reject your claim ,If some one knows different let us all know.

Sure if i spent a ton of money on a new car , i suppose i could then afford the opc servicing and warrenty issues
However being that its 1998 build, and had a couple of previous owners, i didnt think it justified the £105 per hour charge especially if they then told me it had been ragged to bits .
By all means if it is a couple of years old with full service history it may pay to stick with the dealership, however as the years pass these 2 and 3 year old start becomming 6, 7, 8 + year old that may not justify the service cost. I am glad that i was advised through this forum of other people who had used non OPC , otherwise i would have been probably stuck with servicing by a local Backstreet Bob . which in the long run would not do the Porsche name any good

I asked the question yesterday at my OPC: the Porsche warranty is unaffected by having the car serviced by an independent providing the car is serviced using OEM parts and the necessary maintenance is carried out in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

Obviously this is open to all sorts of possibilities, for example if a cap screw was found not to have been tightened properly and subsequently found to be the cause of a failure, the warranty claim could be deemed invalid, so there is always a risk using an independent in this respect.

One difference worthy of mention between OPC v Independent, and potentially a hidden benefit as it happens, is that the maintenance costs per job are now fixed and standard across all UK OPCs. By way of example, an independent may charge an extra hour or so labour if a brake caliper proves difficult to remove due to seized screws, but an OPC will have a fixed time for the specific job, irrespective of unforseen difficulties.

PCGB discount? Not for me unfortunately[&o]
