Finally after weather delays it has arrived!"!!

(didn't want the car on the cross channel ferry over the last couple of weeks and certainly not going far in the next week or so!!)

Wonderful car, love it already, cannot wait to get in to Europe and then on a couple of tracks. Change from my usual colour but must say that despite my initial doubts it looks good.

(Sapphire Blue) Picked it up during the recent weather window but back in garage for now.

Bit of a learning curve programming the bits and pieces but now set up to take to France weather permitting as I like to run in my cars quickly and under varying conditions not possible here.

Several minor niggles but most solved although disappointed that I ordered carpets and this time only fitted in the front whereas my 997 Turbo had rear carpets as well.

Also no slots for CD's in glove box now.

Too soon to comment overall but auto stop/start over here is a pain and must hammer the battery and starter motor so disabled immediately.

Electric park brake seemed a bit of a joke at first but you can put it on in traffic and it goes off immediately you put your foot on accelerator.

Pain not having the multi function steering wheel and Paddles get in the way of the other stalks. In retrospect I think that I should have had the multi wheel where at least with the buttons you can change up or down on either side of the wheel.
Changes seem to quicker that my Turbo Tiptronic. On changing down for a corner the car seems to momentarily accelerate which caught me out on my favourite slow bend. I have not heard it but my passenger said that he though the throttle was
blipped and if so I may have to change my style of driving.

Sat Nav Post code doesn't work properly, it took me to the correct road but wouldn't accept 47 which is where I live and stated the range available was I to 41. This estate was built in the early 60's and highest number is 61.

Wonderful car

I will give some more comments when I have had a decent run.

Seems I cannot upload any pics as they are too large, perhaps someone can help.

Cheers

Being somewhat opportunist, I have taken a multifunction wheel off a 981 Cayman S and replaced it with a Sports Design wheel. If you are interested in a black leather multifunction wheel (I assume they are the same as a 991 version but my/your OPC could confirm) with the required replacement switch set send me a pm. I am sure you can find someone who wants your Sports Design wheel.

Like the colour!! Having just had the half day at the experience centre at Silverstone I found out that the harder you brake the more the box will respond and change down in anticipation of your next demand and it really helped lap speed, what a fantastic piece of technology.

Your OPC can reverse the stop/start as 'default off' instead of 'default on' if you wish. There is no need to carry CDs if you get a memory stick, put your CDs on it and insert it in the slot in the Glove box. The postcode does work but it takes some working out, which I can't remember, as I had a similar issue at first![:)]

Thanks for the offer.

I will speak to the OPC

Beautiful! Congratulations and can understand your desire to get onto the continent ASAP. Are you sure the rear carpets are simply not just missing? Certainly got front and rears on my poverty spec C2S.

Thanks Peter, I will take this up at the OPC on Monday

That looks absolutely stunning.
My C2, new a year ago, also came with front and rear carpet mats and its even less of a poverty spec than Peter's C2S so it looks like the OPC forgot to put them in your car before handover.
I don't have the Jukebox option on my C2 (missed it by 4 months) but if it's like the system I had on my BMW all you need to do is to plug a USB memory stick into your PC or Mac and copy your music files onto it then plug into the USB socket in your 911 and download them onto the hard drive in the car. That could take a long time so you need to go and drive it whilst the transfer is in progress as the PCM will shut down after a few minutes if you try to do it without the engine running, so there you have yet another excuse to go and drive it :)

A couple of laps of the island should do it, Mike![;)]

Unfortunately due to the state of our roads, it is almost impossible to drive around the Island due to road works, temporary diversions, green lane speed limits (15 mph) flooded junctions and debris.
Hope to get on the ferry Saturday weather permitting but Condor have now gone on strike!

We are all hunkering down again tonight for gale force winds.

Cheers

Looks great. I too was very tempted by Sapphire but didn't want another black interior and couldn't quite decide on an alternative.

Agree about stop start and the handbrake, which I had on the C2S but at least you can switch off the former. The latter reminds me of cheap French hire cars.

I didn't realise there was enough road on Jersey to get the aero into Max Attack mode.[;)]

As for Sat Nav, I have the same problem. We are at 114 and sat nav only goes up to 98. OK ours was the last house built, but they did finish it in 1685.

Here's hoping for an early window in the weather so you can get onto some continental roads.

Cheers

Nick

PS. meant to ask what make of tyres is yours on? Mine is at the OPC waiting for March 1st but sadly is wearing Pirelli, which would not have been my first or even second choice.

Stop / Start awful over here and will get OPC to disable as default, not really happy to "freewheel" either.

I have warmed towards the park brake for use when stopped at traffic lights as you do not need to release it just drive away

Sadly Pirelli which lasted very poorly on my 997 Turbo.

I will replace with Bridgestone's when required as best all rounder and decent longevity.Cheers

I may be wrong but as far as I know the only N rated tyres to fit 991s are the Pirelli P Zeros. I would be happy to be proved wrong as I would prefer to fit Michelins when the time comes for replacements. Does anyone have more information?

Try this..

There is a 991 GT3 at the local OPC and I thought it had Michelins and certainly the rears were 305 on Centre locks but I will check tomorrow and confirm.

I recall that Pirellis were the only ones available when I bought my 997 but when I came to replace them Bridgestones were approved although I had to wait a month for them.
