Here at last!!

There is a 991 GT3 at the local OPC and I thought it had Michelins and certainly the rears were 305 on Centre locks but I will check tomorrow and confirm.

I recall that Pirellis were the only ones available when I bought my 997 but when I came to replace them Bridgestones were approved although I had to wait a month for them.


Confirmed that a new GT3 has Michelin's at Local OPC.


It appears that my rear carpets are missing, probably on Ebay now!


Took car in with clattering noise coming from left front disk on braking. Technician agreed not right but couldn't find anything amiss so recording of noise has been sent to Reading!


Told that auto stop cannot be disabled as this would contravene anti pollution regulations in EU! We are not in EU and technician has had other requests (also on other brands) to disable but OPC policy not to do so!!

Still love the car!!
 
Loving the car and colour Mike, congratulations on getting it to the Island safely!

I too have warmed to the electronic handbrake, the automatic release working really nicely unlike an Italian version I tried!![&:]

Had Pirelli on 997tt only lasted 12k put on Bridgestone lasted 20k no brainer

Looks great. I too was very tempted by Sapphire but didn't want another black interior and couldn't quite decide on an alternative.

Agree about stop start and the handbrake, which I had on the C2S but at least you can switch off the former. The latter reminds me of cheap French hire cars.

I didn't realise there was enough road on Jersey to get the aero into Max Attack mode.[;)]

As for Sat Nav, I have the same problem. We are at 114 and sat nav only goes up to 98. OK ours was the last house built, but they did finish it in 1685.

Here's hoping for an early window in the weather so you can get onto some continental roads.

PS. meant to ask what make of tyres is yours on? Mine is at the OPC waiting for March 1st but sadly is wearing Pirelli, which would not have been my first or even second choice.

Stop / Start awful over here and will get OPC to disable as default, not really happy to "freewheel" either.

I have warmed towards the park brake for use when stopped at traffic lights as you do not need to release it just drive away

Sadly Pirelli which lasted very poorly on my 997 Turbo.

I will replace with Bridgestone's when required as best all rounder and decent longevity.Cheers

I didn't notice at first as I am very light on the brakes particularly in a brand new car as I like to bed things in slowly on long runs before I go to Europe and track the car. However after about 50 miles from new (should not have been busy trying out the sound system) I noticed a "dragging clattering" sound from the left front when braking and when I braked a bit harder it was very noticeable and obviously "rotational" since as the speed dropped the incidence decreased. A friend (997 Cab) felt that the noise came from the back. This sound did not decrease and when the brakes were used more (not hot as brakes just don't get hot here) the sound became louder.

I went back to the OPC and their technician agreed that he could clearly hear the noise and it wasn't "right". They took the left front off (scratched the black hub!) but couldn't find anything wrong but said that all four wheels were making the same sound to a lesser extent. A "sound bite was taken and sent somewhere but they then wanted another one plus a video of the left front. I duly obliged but decided not to take the car to France as scheduled just in case something came adrift at speed.

I have now been told Porsche want to change all four discs. I recall that when I had discs changed on my 997 turbo the OPC insisted on new pads as well.

Omit this bit as it is a rant!
"I m not happy that the wheels are being taken off as this is a procedure that must be carried out very carefully to avoid any damage, scuffing etc on a brand new unmarked car. (I say unmarked because while with the garage a rear wheel picked up a couple of scuffs which I didn't notice until after I had driven two miles home and washed the car. Naturally the OPC denies it happened there and obviously I cannot prove it, but when I had the disks changed on the 997 Turbo the car was returned with a nasty chip out of one of the nice red polished callipers. I am not terribly happy with the quality of care my car gets. I never let the OPC wash my car although it is free and I knew every scratch, chip and blemish on my old Turbo plus when and how they occurred. If Lancelot reads this I would be much happier if he was doing this job!!"

Questions:-

Has anyone one come across this before?
If yes what was the cause?
Should I insist on a pad change as well?
