hids4uheadlamp conversion

I got my LEDS from www.ultraleds.co.uk. They are a straight replacement for the standard bulb. I got the six LED version which replaces the BA9 bulb. Take care when replacing you wil l need to remove the front indicator unit ( I managed to break one) this in turn allows you access to the screw for the parking light / fog light unit.

Hello All,

Happy New Year.....................
I still haven't got around to fitting these lights.Time of year etc........
On looking through the latest Porsche Post I see that there is an article in the 993 technical section about headlamps......I quote:
'A higher rating fuse must be used to cater for the start up current, but once lit the current draw is lower than normal.'
This is the first time I have seen that comment and my kit has not come with a replacement fuse.Is this right ?Can anyone give me the benefit of their experience ?
I would have thought the kit should have come with a fuse if that was the case.

Richard.

lights fitted and, as Maurice indicated, the difference is remarkable. Does the cabriolet have an unusual arrangement behind the front lamps or did others have a difficult time working out where to bolt the ballasts? Not entirely comfortable with the location of mine at present. Leads not long enough to allow threading through into the bonnet and reluctant to start grinding large holes through in any event. Any suggestions? M<

You don't bolt the ballasts anywhere.Wrap them in bubblewrap and pack thm into the wings behind the headlamps...............

Hello Maurice - No TT in the forseeable future I'm afraid - Unfortunately we lost our business two months ago so I'm rather 'fiscally challenged' at the moment (Why do we let these Eastern Block countries have huge subsidies so that their companies can come and undercut our businesses? - Why does Tony Blair think that this is a 'good idea' ?).

I'm lucky to still have the C4 to be honest - I might look at throwing ten grand at it when I can afford it to have it brought back nearer to 'ex-factory' condition (rebuild, new suspension, tidy up bodywork, and maybe fettle the interior trim a little).

Don't forget that I live in the land of the stray sheep, so I know all about wildlife (especially the wooly variety) encroaching on to the highway!

You might have a point about converting the fogs though - wrong sort of lenses/reflectors though aren't they? - might need a custom built housing of some kind.

Chris
