How bad is this wing rust ?

ORIGINAL: Fen

The S2 as well? I know the Turbo S did, but didn't the chap then come back asking about a low miles (circa 79k) S2 in gold that was a Porsche launch show car or something that they had?

I lost the plot somewhere there, buchwotsit seem to have quite a selection.

Good point Paul - the guys who did mine usually restore classic Jags, MGs etc and they lead loaded the repair sections, hence no filler used as such, but I would not entrust this type of repair to just any old bodyshop.

In an ideal world, it would be new wings every time, but for me at the time £800 plus vat for two new wings plus the labour, just could not be justified!

You pays your money....[;)]

Agreed, go to a classic car restorers to get this job done properly (as long as they are good and dont cut corners). Ideally the should remove the wing to do the repair to as to ensure all rust is removed from the inside of the wing and the inside is also painted and seam sealed. stone chip coated.

I would advise the owner spraying wax protection inside there every year to protect the repair.

Its hard to tell from the pic posted if its a surface rusting or from the inside- its likely to be both.

Incidentally, can we just change the forum so it says "Sorry. You can't post consecutive messages within the same lunch hour" as that would be a more accurate reflection of what it means. My definition of a short time is about 1/4 that of the fourm's it would seem []

I agree, it does become slightly frustrating for the enthusiastic posters that we are!
