How many are left? Here's the answers!!

Ahh, yes - that might make more sense. There goes my feeling of exclusivity! Good to know there's still a good number of Luxes in use though.

Chris,
They will have all colours down as Turbo S, not just Rose, My black car is described as Turbo S on the log, so how many actual roses left................leave the gag out about choclates folks !

More reason for Alasdair to raise Steve Cox's old car back from the ashes.

I am not surprised by the number that are SORN in the Q4 figures. A lot of people take their cars off the road at the end of the year and only have them taxed for the summer.

If I'm reading this right, my Lux is one of only 20 "standard" manual 944s (i.e. not S, S2, Turbo) that was not SORNed during Q4 of 2010!
Can that be right? Are there so few Luxes used year round?

No your not reading it right. They are exclusive numbers not one minus the other!!

1727 licensed
1707 sorn'd

=3434 total 944's

Still lots of them around in various states of repair and drivability

EDIT; too slow at posting, you all got there before me!!

Fantastic....the interesting thing here is the rate of attrition if I'm reading it right. For an S2 for example, it's gone from 1317 in 1994 Q4 to 759 in 2010 Q4 (cars on the road).

Wonder how these figures tally with the often claimed 75% survival rate for all Porsches...

At the enormous rate they have been building them in more recent years, in the 996 / 997 / Boxster / Cayman / Cayenne era, it would not surprise me in the slightest if 75% of all those ever built are currently survivors. But nor would it prove very much.

The 924 seems to have had the highest fatalities in the same period 1994 - 2010 . Down from 5565 to 849 which if my number crunching skills are correct is an attrition rate of around 85% over the 16 years .

Similar claims are made for Landrovers but in that case probably a bit of a Triggers broom scenario.

so reading that they are saying our 944 Cab S2 there were 361 on the books for the 4th Quater in 2010?? so not many then..

interesting data..

hmmmm I think the data has flaws..

No 912's and I know of at least 35+ cars MOT'd and on the road.

No 356's again about 40+ of these cars on the road and MOT'd

That is gorgeous. Brings back happy memories of my first car and the estate is lovely. As it's a two-door conversion should it even be classed as a shooting brake, more in the Ferrari mould? [8|]

As said in previous posts, DVLA are not 100% in their data input. There's also circa 3500 'lost' Porsche which will account for specials, 356, 912, 914's etc.

20 odd 964 RS's, but I know of some showing in logbooks variously as Carrera, Carrera 2 or just 911......

Great find. You ought to post this under a general forum because a lot of interested parties don't read all forums like some of us (with nothing better to do on a wet morning) do.

I'll put in in the Porsche Post, assuming there's no copyright issues or anything? [8|]
If its from the DVLA, I would imagine it is publiucly available data and therefore shoul;d be publishable.

Worth checking on their website though.

OK, just checked and it should be OK as long as the source is clearly referenced, see copy and paste below:

does it include pre 72 tax exempt cars?

Probably within the circa 3500 'lost' Porsche cars and/or listed as licensed. A pre '72 tax exempt car must apply for a licence but charged £0 so is therefore 'licensed'.

I have followed on from this in the past I have been in contact with them about 912's and this thread then made a huge amount of sence and with my man I just got to know there we are now looking at why he has NO 912's on his list.

So with some reg numbers we are going to look at how the cars have been placed in and on the system..the same with 356's they are not listed??

This is very useful and answers many of the questions regarding vehicle numbers. I have been to the website and found the tables in question,VEH0120andVEH0121 but seem to have to scroll through pages and pages of cars to find the one I am looking for. How have the tables you have posted been constructed,is it possible to sort by make and type? I ask because my other car is a corrado and I would like assemble a similar table for the various models of this car.
