Did they really go up that much between '84 and '86? When I bought my 924 new in '84 it was 12k, a 944 was 17k and I am 99% sure a standard 3.2 Carrera with the teledials (Fuchs, spoiler etc were options) was 25k.

3.2 Carrera with the teledials (Fuchs, spoiler etc were options) was 25k.

The basic car was £29.956.00 (the prices I quoted in previous post included car tax and VAT)

Greetings
What John says is about right, my '85 coupe with sports pack cost the first owner a cool £35k give or take a shilling. A mere snip!
But then a Ford something or other might have set you back a whole guinea.
A lot of lupins in those days [;)]

What John says is about right,

Thanks for your backing Alex[;)] - My prices were taken from a Porsche Publication that listed all the prices for the cars and what was standard equipment. It also listed the options and the prices. Hence the approx [:D][:D][:D][:D] in my first listing

Hey guys I have a Porsche price list from May 1987.

Quite a price jump then to the Porsche Price list I am using dated 1/9/87 in my posts.

So example in four months the Super Sports Equipment 3.2 cab went up another £2364.60

Yeah all those extra pounds..... from the wallet to the wheels, still dont understand the desire for a heavier car that has no extra boost! Apart from the turbo tie rod ends no real advantage.
I guess it was the 80's and it was the era for the poser!
For me Id sooner have paid less and optioned up a "skinny" 3.2 that was much lighter and handled better, and also stood apart from the fat boy turbo, as a more senior PCGB member said if you like a j-lo rear end buy a turbo.
But having said that the sse's still command good money, maybe its because they were sold in lower volumes.
Enjoy[:)]

I think the fat body cars were for customers who wanted mobile phones!!! LOL[:D][:D][:D]
My first mobile (1988) was more of a breeze block than a brick!!

Looking further into the pricelist and you find that in 1987 a turbo (inc Vat & Taxes) but with no options was £50,812.55 however a flatnose inc taxes and with no options was a staggering £93,294.23 which is about £188k in 2009 money!!!
Thats CGT prices! Heaven knows what a 959 would be in todays money!

Just looking back at some figures the coupe was £33K and the SSE £45K Then the Turbo was almost £51K
No wonder the SSE is rare at £45K. Its £12K plus on from slim Jim and Less than £6K more and you would get the Turbo.

Yeah the sums kind a dont add up (for me) but I guess as others have said it was the 80's and anything went!
Im guessing the pricing structure was based on co. car sales? and specs etc according to how much of a yuppie banker the prospective new buyer was.
It would be interesting to see if there are any members that bought either a skinny/fatty/turbo and on what basis they made their decision.
Any onwers who bought new got any further thoughts................????[8|][8|][8|]

Hi I've just caught this topic, I have a December 1986 price list and the prices are roughly as stated previously. I worked at a Porsche Centre from '83-'89 and I remember the prices rising dramatically- but they still sold!! I have a 1986 Carrera Supersport Targa- I always said I would never buy a Targa or one in white-mines white! But I paid a reasonable price 8 years ago and it's still worth 7-8k more than I paid for it, now I do prefer the SSE, but thats a personal choice, performance wise I don't think in normal use theres much in it

Is the 'Club sport' an error? Did they do one at that date? If so, was it really cheaper than a 'Sport'?
I thought all CS's were G50'd?

Is the 'Club sport' an error?

Nathan - Well spotted![;)]

I had to look twice at the price list when I was putting in my original post[8|] - that is the price (09/86) it is listed at.
Perhaps someone else would like to confirm this is correct.
I also note that the car was not available until 1987 and finished in 1989 - yes G50 era.
The Peter Morgan lists prod figures etc and all the options like elect windows that were removed to save weight.
So by removing all the items did that make it cheaper?

Funny because if you specked 3.2 Carrera from new and did not want the Whale Tail (item delete I think they called it)
you had to pay extra!

It is also worth nothing that
