hello

my next car will prob be a 996. I want to get a Gen2

what's the easiest way to tell it's a Gen2? It seems I can't rely on the year, or even the shape of the headlights.

When I search Autotrader or google images it's hard to tell exactly where the cut-off date is....

so what's a sure fire 100% sure way to be sure - are there tell tale numbers on the sticker under the bonnet?

It's tricky (for me) at least to tell

thanks

October 2001 (Model year 2002) was the cutoff and the head lights really should be the best way to tell (unless the entire front bumper and lights have been upgraded - can't be very common). Glove box is also a good tell, glass for the rear if a cab.3.6 engine in the spec is a giveaway.

thanks all.

hope to get some kind of Gen2 996, but may I am keen on the c4s because of the 'turbo' body. But, if money is right a 996 Turbo, but my wife wants kitchen replaced first

Tell your wife you have seen sense and that you will be buying a 996 that will do 32 mpg and get that agreement in writing, then go buy your 996t.Travelling to Le Mans using every kph of the french speed limits I averaged 32 on the way down which included rather more town driving in Rouen and Le Mans "environs" than anticipated and all the shuffling off the shuttle.

Its the difference of

...oh, if only you'd be looking to distinguish between a gen 1/2 boxster, forget the mechanics, take a hairdresser with you.......

Had to get my wife a Gen 2 Boxster.
Her reasoning was she needed a glovebox for her sunglasses and wine gums, and a cup holder for her Latte.

Stop, stop...
" far too much fun being had in this tread"....LOL

Love it.

If your Gen1 lights have a bit of a yellow glow to them, it's probably because they were corn fed and need upgrading to free range.
