How ugly is the 968

ORIGINAL: DLP

What are you lot on about? Is it a wind-up from the rear-engined, air-cooled crowd? If you didn't like the shape, why did you buy it? I think 99% of the population think the shape of the 968, headlamps up or down, looks brilliant.
Dave

i bought my 968 because i thought it would hold its value better than a 2nd hand merc clk/alfa spider etc..and still be as "practical" to use every day. i do like the shape (but agree that the 944 is a more cohesive design), but lights up it makes dogs howl and children cry..[:D].

whilst the 968 is far from the ugliest Porsche ever - its not the prettiest either..that accolade I believe belongs to the 964RS (in maritime blue [;)]), closely followed by the 993RS - talking about road cars only.
for me the ugliest are the new Carrera GT (which looks like a designer got a big bag of grilles, spoilers, mesh, led lights etc and threw them all onto a car), and the 959 which looks lovely in the middle and totally unbalanced at the ends and appears to only come with an interior which belongs in a parisian brothel

the 968 fits somewhere inbetween :ROFLMAO:

I agree about the SZ Steve - I looked at them for a bit before going for a 968 - but they are too expensive for good low milers, and the value will only be kept if you keep the miles off it. Cracking cars though. Also in my "lovely but ugly" garage would be a Lotus Carlton and a Cayenne Turbo. I do however disagree about the GT1 - it is gorgeous!!!

I think the 968 looks great from the front, as long as you are looking at it straight in the eye, and don't get a sense of the eyes on stalks. It looks like a 993/964 but with silicon...

The 968 is one of the best looking cars around, 10 years ago or today ! Classic GT shape, beautiful. Rear haunches viewd from the door mirror is one of the best views from any car. Especially when your viewing a 911 trying to keep up going round a corner.

968, ugly ?
That's fighting talk where I come from.
I've moved now though. [8D]

"it's symbolic of his struggle against oppression"

"symbolic of his struggle against reality more like"

Much as is this thread, the 968 is one of the best looking cars on the road.

Naah, it ain't ugly. I'm shallow, I wouldn't buy an ugly car [:)]

Plenty of pedestrians seem to agree, judging by the looks it gets...

"Romans they go the house?"

(sorry, must stop this now - it's late, been on the sauce, no excuse I know!)
