I am not dead yet!!

Glad to hear you are back in the land of the living Jon, and even better to read you are dusting off the spanners and ditching the pinstripe suit [;)] . In all the years I've known you, you've been very unlucky with health, family and employees [:(] With you back at the coalface, I am sure JMG will go from strength to strength.

P.S. you made the right choice about which model of Porsche to keep in the fleet [:)]

Best Wishes Jon, did not know that you were ill to that extent, onwards and upwards !
That is some collection that you have there :p

Jon I hadn't realised things had taken such a dramatic turn for the worse, are you around JMG towers on Saturday? I will see if I can pop over and say hello again in the morning if so.

Best wishes Jon. Definitely worth another call to the insurer. The problem may be in the definition of critically ill as it's bound to be well defined in your policy documents, which are unlikely to contain phrases like "as long as the hospital tell you you are critically ill we will accept a claim" good luck.

Thanks again chaps.

Niel, I will be in at some point this saturday and will be in all day the following saturday.

Today I drove my first Porsche since the Nurburgring in May when I messed my knee up, had to kind of slide into it rather than jump into it, but it was good to be behind the wheel again...

I am hoping one of the duties I will be taking over in the workshop initially will be pre and post work test drives, keeps me in control of quality and keeps the chaps on their toes :) also can't wait to get building a couple of engines that have been patiently waiting for me, which should not involve too much heavy lugging and I can do sat down.

You don't want 16v Colin, its good for torque and good for super high revs, but unless you dry sump it so you can exploit the high rev ability of the heads, you will not make much top end if any, and you will end up with even more torque and the biggest problem with 3.0 turbo's is putting down the power anyway.

If you insist though, it will not be cheap and it will be ready in about 6 months to a year (Got in there before anyone else does!!!)

Good to hear you are on the mend Jon... Since having a four-post lift I have found fixing handbrakes a nice therapeutic job, ramp set the right height so the swivel chair will fit underneath, just the right height to put the tea mug on, and, you can actually see what you are doing with those poxy springs! All carefully cleaned up, very rewarding[:)]

To be honest though, if you are on light duties I think you have a full-time job on the forums don't you?!

Best wishes,

Tref.

Tref, your 4 post lift reminds me of my old workshop in Charminster years ago that I think you visited, the roof height meant that the cars could not lift all the way and I worked under them by whizzing around on a swivel office chair, that used to be fun :)

You have of course just broardcast to the world that around here there is a Porsche enthusiast with a lift... Every first sunday at yours is going to become a 944 enthusiast DIY tech day from now on! Get the tea bags in! :)

Oooh, I will be making a couple of calls in the morning!

I presumed it was something to do with critical illness only paying out because you may or may not be on the road to death which the policy also paid out for and as I was no longer critically ill I did not deserve the payment. But I did think it was odd.

I will chase them up.

Yes Paul, the last 3 years have been pretty cursed, two members of the family passed away 3 years ago, last year I was away from work for a short period from a back problem which exposed that in my younger years I had broken my back (!) and this year there has been this... Hopefully that is the end of it, but it's why I am now firmly of the opinion that you need to live for today and make sure its a positive experience for all involved or not happen at all, and that includes work!

David, Greece, it took me a moment to think what you were on about, are you trying to tempt me over to the dark side, it is tempting though!

Thanks chaps for all the good wishes
Great to hear that you're well on the road to recovery Jon. Best wishes.

As far as the Insurance goes I was expecting it to read like something out of a Python sketch. "No sir, you can't claim your Critical Illness insurance until you actually expire" Queue the dead Parrot skit. lol

Yes, I remember that place:) And that is exactly how mine is, right down to the office chair! I have planning permission to build a workshop with the required headroom - another job:), but the tea bags are already in! In fact, at the moment I haven't even finished putting the mech back together on the lift - I wind it up and down with a spanner!!! Trouble is it is in one of the most beautiful bits of countryside you ever did see, so I spend more time drinking tea and watching the world go by than getting on with stuff... Hey - it's my hobby![:D]

Hi Tony, had an email from David at 10 this morning, was replied to by 11:20, not had your email though.. will check my forum catchall address..
