I have got my new car at last

Yes, those are all "niggles" well most of them anyway- my car (also red 944S2) has some of them. As long as your car starts, stops and runs and gets you there, then its reliable.[:D]

Oh, and lower wishbone ball joints.
Liquid crystal draining out of the clock display
Cracking tops to dash boards
Tailgate remote release not working
Hand brake adjustment
Brake and petrol pipes.
John, You're only jealous 'cos you haven't got a RED one.[:D]

[;)] When it comes to washing the car I'm pretty well jealous of anyone whos car isn't black......although I do have an issue with the red going pink thing. And nobody is going to be jealous of someone with a metalic pink car (AKA Silver Rose [;)])

I think they are pretty reliable considering the age and in any case its always good to tinker (as long as its nothing too major)

Notchy Gear Change when cold incl. poor 1st to 2nd shift

Don't forget that the gearbox is a long way from the engine! It takes a noticably longer time to warm up than anything else Ive driven.

Get the gear box oil changed - Swepco from Bert Gear at Berlyn Services is very good. It may help a little but isn't likely to cure it completely.

My 1st to 2nd is still pretty baulky even when hot. When cold I have been known to give up trying to get into 1st at all and pull away in second.

You guys still start off in 1st gear???? [&:] You need bigger engines [;)]

944s have never been known for smooth gear changes IMHO, especially in cold weather. This is one of the areas that seems to have been improved greatly when they introduced the 6 speed box on the 968 (well the one that I have briefly been in)
