Feeling abit faint right now but sure it will pass. Well Shirleys has a nice black one and i have just bought it. I havent even seen it as i am up in Glasgow, if anyone lives close please feel free and have a look and give me your opinion.

So i am now an official owner. Please no scare stories right now till i atleast pick it up and go for a wee drive.

Saturday is the day, and i cant wait now!! Roll on. Mind you work on Monday so i dont want it to rol that fast....

Saw that car advertised on Shirleys website and it looks like a good 'un!!
Let us know what you think, once you've collected it and experienced the rush!! [;)]
All the best.

Congrats Slim, Funnily enough I am about 6 miles from there right now (if I had time I'd go for a peek) [8D]

You're a braver soul than I , buying without even looking at it, so I hope it is as good as it looks and sounds. I looked at a Turbo there a few years ago, but it was much cheaper than yours and when i saw it, it was overpriced for it's condition. Welcome to the boooooost [:D]

Now you'll have him worried, Paul. I bought my Turbo from there and I think they're fine.

SBF & I know each other from elsewhere on the net and have exchanged lots of emails about this (apparently it's my fault...). Anyhow I can reveal that not only has Mr Nerves-of-Steel bought a car he's never seen, he has never driven a 944 either.

I'm sure you'll all join me in reassuring him he won't regret it.

Just think, the first time he drives it he will go "Wow!!! What a car!!!" and then grin like a mad man for the rest of the journey knowing he owns it.

Or he may think 'hmmm this is a laggy old monster and feels slow' as I did when I first tested a few Turbos. But after fitting a boost enhancer or a Reliaboost from the Guru kit that will soon change [:D]. Even though that car has lowish miles and a very good service history, if it has no 'modification' to hold the wastegate shut it will feel slow at low revs.

If it feels fast and has no modification then you can start grinning insanely because a couple of hundred quid will make it feel interstellar around the 300bhp mark [8D]

I think that is a relative thing subject to other experience and perception. You were comparing the Turbot to an S2 in which case, although not having driven a S2, I can see how that would be the case. I drove a Turbot after a Lux in which case, at low speeds and "off the line", it did seem a tiny little bit lazy untill you get to booooosssssssstttttttttt!!!!!![:)]

I have got to agree that in the first instance the Boost Enhancer is the best £100 you can spend on a Turbot (and doesn't/shouldn't impact on the insurance). Once you get bored with the Boost Enhancer then go for the Guru kit. Speak to Andrew Sweetenham and ask for a ReliaBoost instead of a Boost Enhancer then, when you get the Guru kit (also available from Andrew in the UK) it will be cheaper as you don't need a ReliaBoost ('cos you've already got one)

Slim's last car had 330lb/ft. I have already warned him that the Turbo will feel slow off the line...

All is not lost, I have just checked my graph and it's 370lb/ft at 4,100rpm.

Forget Guru and go to AmD

Not realy a fair comparison Robbie IMHO [;)] I'd consider an AmD upgrade more on a par with a Wayned DPW upgrade in both power and expenditure.

The Guru route slots in between being Wayned/AmDed and a Boost Enhancer but must be one of the best £/bhp upgrades available for a Turbot at te moment.

Oh gosh ......well yes (of the "why didn't I think of this" sort of variety).... very anorakish Simo..........I'm beginning to see sides of you I never knew existed, you sly fox!

Do you play air guitar whilst thinking these things up then? [:'(]

370 is pretty impressive. Mine made about 315lb/ft before I broke it.

I know you've told me your spec before, but I don't remember it: You have a MAF is all I recall. And that you've lightened it a bit.

I don't think Robbies does have a MAF (prepared to be wrong though [8|] ) so 370lbft is very impressive for torque from just the AMD chips.

My Guru kit yielded 287BHP and 331 lbft at 4000 rpm, but I when I fitted a more accurate boost gauge I found my shimmed wastegate was still not holding the 1.1 bar in the higher revs. A few more shims later and it now holds 1.1bar to just under 6000rpm before starting to fall so should hopefully be making more power, I haven't been back to the rolling road yet though.

Thats exactly the kind of figures i am looking for 290bhp and 300lbft would be great. Especially with the low down lag removed. I have emailed Guru, but he still has to get back to me. I dont want to go mad, first and formost i stll want a reliable car not one that will detonate its engine at some point in the future trying to run too much boost. 1.1 bar sounds plenty to me..

I will be very upset if its not a good bit quicker than my TDI !!

Paul do you have an RR graph i can have a look at?

Going a bit OT here, but at some point in the past I'm sure I saw a diagram (posted by Paul or Tony, I thought) on how to shim the wastegate. I can't find it now and another mate has just paid for his Guru chips today so I was going to send it to him (he's not a club mener so can;t get on here). Can anyone point me at it?

Cheers in advance...
