Ideas on door speakers please

I fitted these Alpine Components in the front of mine, which sound miles better, previous owner had cut the holes already so i just put better speakers in and then alpines in the rear just finish it off.

Looks like a possible option althoughI would prefer to do away with the original speaker altogether if there was a way or cover up.[8|]

How about making a blanking plate cover in vinyl to cover the stock location?.... It would tidy the door card up a bit.

ORIGINAL: Hilux

I have the 10 speaker system and it is quality but with modern digital bass (any large amount of bass really) it cannot cope. At the mid to higher end it sounds crystal clear, very good in my car anyway.

I have thought of a small sub woofer but I`m no ICE expert so wondered how I could do this so I get a bass from the SW but retain the treble/tweeters. I assume an amp is deriguer to do this? Any advice would be fantastic.

Sorry to hijack thread a bit.

My car has a 10 speaker system and the bass is really muddy. O/H's golf has better bass with only the front speakers working from a cheap goodmans head unit.

I'm thinking of replacing some or all of the speakers with modern ones of the same impedance, and perhaps replacing the rear woofers with small single coil subs directly driven from the current wiring loom. I'm pretty sure my head unit is original (panasonic tape deck) it's got a front input jack but i've actually been enjoying making a few mix tapes up :)
