Increasing value of 993s

Hi all

I had a bit of a shock yesterday.

My car is insured by Lockton on an agreed value, mileage limited to 5000, policy. A valuation for the insurance 2 years ago was for £41000. The valuation I got yesterday for insurance renewal was for £60000.

Hang on to your toys, boys. And girls.

Although this example has only done 46k miles - at 170k miles, mine's no garage queen but is in excellent condition.

I understand that PCGB will provide a valuation service for free - but it takes time which I didn't have.


 
My 1997 C2S was recently valued by POC at 75K, has 56k on the clock and TBH is a bit of a garage queen (almost permanently in garage ??).

The club service has been raised as an issue at Official's Conferences over several years, indeed I cited it in my resignation speech some years ago ... no real solution on the horizon yet.

Hi Maurice. How did you submit your valuation forms and pics to the POC? I asked about emailing them in and was told to snail mail the information, which I did. I followed up by email to ensure the information had been received, which was verified and I was provided the valuation within the advertised timeframes. Maybe I was fortunate? ??
 
To be fair the rarer 2S and 4S especially low milers have always commanded a big premium- I tried a 4S with 70k miles 5 years ago and it was near£50 k then
the standard 993 prices have risen of course but I doubt they'll ever reach the dizzy heights of the S models
 
I don't think the C2S is rare at all - there are lots of them! Don't understand the premium at all but it's there.
 
Well the rest of the world seems to think so!!
certainly compared to the non S variants it's rare and hence collectors prefer them especially low milers of course
at the time I believe the wider turbo body was the big deal
anyway they're all selling well now!!
 
Without breaking it down into the individual years.
Uk Production (Rhd)

C2S (manual)= 251
Plus C2S Tip S = 95
Total C2S = 346

C4S (all manual) production = 181.

I obviously can't guarantee the accuracy as the figures are averaged from various "official" sources (never the same), but don't think they are hugely out?
 
Those figures look about right. The wide bodies were varioram only hence the lower overall numbers compared to the narrows. In varioram form roughly even numbers between wide and narrow. All decent 993s are selling well and I would say % price increases are similar across wide and narrow. Neither one is a better place to put your money than the other, it's down to which you prefer.

Interesting that all the the C4S models were manual only; why was that?

With regards all the WBs being varioram only; I guess that was due to the WB S models all being manufactured during the later period when all the power plants were varioram?

AFAIK the tiptronic box wouldn´t work with the 4-wheel drive. No PDK available those days.

Yes the first S were 1996 model year when the change was made to varioram as part of the mid cycle refresh.
