Initial impressions on new Turbo S

I've not seen that in mine yet mind you its kept in the garage which is reasonably warm so that might help.

Will look out now

That's proper posh, a warm garage!![:)] I do always garage mine, but clearly you live in sunnier climes! OPC said today that they've had a few issues, bring it down and we'll fix it.

Have you noticed any problem with condensation on inside of rear light clusters?

Just got off the phone to local OPC a known issue and its they say because the lamp units now use LED's and they run cold where before the units had bulbs that ran hot and they dried out the units, they said they had tried replacing the units, "no good", there has been no cure by Porsche and TBH its nothing to worry about, I said actually he is right, even my A6 has the problem, my 430 had water in the front head lights and I was told it has to be there for more than 6 hours before Ferrari would consider a change of units, well so far I have not see the issue in the front light unit. Makes sense though.

Thanks for following up Martin. It seems a reasonable explanation and one I had seen mentioned on other forums as a likely cause. 535bhp out of the engine but can't stop water getting into the lense assembly - weird stuff. If OPC come up with same conclusion as your own, as there's a 3 year warranty I'm not too fussed so long as it's just misted up and not a small lagoon. I will let you know the outcome.

Local OPC did great job today in replacing windscreen and changing both rear lenses without question as they didn't think the condensation was right. Not sure that the adage about "because they're LEDs it's always going to do that" holds water!! If anyone needs a windscreen fitter in Kent send me a mail and I'll let you have details.

Let us all know if the change of lights cures the issue please, my POC said they were happy to but it has not made any difference on the 3 they have done so far.

No problem Martin, i'll be keeping a close eye on them. Car had a good clean up today and so if there's an underlying issue there will be condensation in the morning after being in garage all night. OPC seemed happy to take it up with factory if further problems, although there was no technical bulletin available to them on the problem at this time. I'll diarise for end of Feb for an update unless problems earlier. Seem to spend lot of time touching up small chips on front spoiler at the moment. Didn't have that problem with previous C4S cab, but guess if you want to travel this fast there's a price to pay!!

Have you noticed any problem with condensation on inside of rear light clusters? Couldn't find much on the forum using the search, but few issues when you Google it. Maybe its just been the cold weather recently. For a month old car bit concerned, will mention to OPC when I'm seeing them Friday.

Oh they all do that Sir

In my view the only thing they have got wrong is the centre locks as standard. I very nearly specced the standard turbo wheels as NCO but regret I didn't have the courage of my convictions at the time. Wrong decision and not easy to rectify and on a road car centre locks are a classic example of style taking precedence over function. Rant over!

Agree with that. The centre lock wheels are a hassle - from cleaning them where there's a gutter behind the spokes which collects the dirt, then on to removing them, where Porsche supply the tool to remove the wheel nut but not a means to turn it, and then the missing tools for removing the centre cap without damage and turning the centre lock to re-engage it. Mine have also picked up a couple of stone chips which I must touch in to prevent corrosion.

It seems to be a feature of these centre lock wheels that they are very soft and chip very easily. Mine have several stone chips which is ridiculous really

1200 miles now and no chips but I agree the groove behind the spokes picks up and collects road grit/dust and requires a good clean to make it look good, at least there is no brake dust (PCCB!)

Out of interest, I did enquire about the cost of replacement wheels just so that I am suitably paranoid when parallel parking. They are, ball park, £1400 each but there's a deal of a complete set WITH tyres for around £3500. So that's alright then...[:D]

Is it possible to order the Turbo S without centre lock? It seems that this is a feature nobody really appreciates.

I think the Spyder 'centre lock' wheels are gorgeous - lightweight, motorsport design, reasonable protection from kerbing, stay pretty clean with ceramics, not too difficult to clean (apart from channel behind spokes). What's not to like [;)]

Quick report that it's been a month nearly since Tonbridge OPC changed both rear light clusters due to condensation and absolutely no sign of it returning even after plenty of wet driving conditions and washing.
