Insurance Advice

OK... Anyone else confused with insurance renewals from Liverpool Victoria.. Over the last month or so, I have received 2 insurance quotes from their automatic system, as their system didn't realise I was already insured with them... Both for £456..

I have just got my actual renewal quote through and its suddenly dropped to £166..?
Policy is unlimited miles, 6years no claims, parked on the drive, excess of £500, body and wheel mods etc etc...I'm not complaining but its fantastic [:D] and cheaper than many classic policies.... especially when my renewal for my Passat TDI has just come in at over £400.....!

Oh yes did I mention I have one sp20 with 6 points.. [&o]

I am insured with Heritage which includes trackdays! My premium is £520 but i drive a
930 turbo.I think you guys will get much cheaper.Thought i would share this ... with my
junior siblings!

insured my 911 3.2 sport with carole nash 27/11/04 no problems, garaged 32y/o, 3k mileage ,agreed@£14k,no mods or imobiliser/alarm etc,£356, perhaps they have renegotiated.

Two weeks ago I contacted Carole Nash about these problems. As you will know I have a close working relationship with them regarding PCGB events sponsored by Carole Nash. This is what I was told.

(1) A major insurer, AXA, were having problems with Classic cover. It seem that youths with hot hatches (XR3i's etc.) have realised the potential of this type of cover as a lot of them do not do more than 6K mile a year.

(2) Another major insurer has decided not to touch Porsche's ??????

Situation at this time.
Carole Nash have spent the last few weeks in negotiaion with other companies (sucscessfully) to place this type of business.
They are also setting up a dedicated desk for members having problems. The operators at this desk will be trained in the requirement of our Club members. If this help line cannot help there will be a member of senior management as a final point of contact.

Please do not expect this all to be in place imeadiatly as it does take some time to set up.
Carole and Fred Nash are both active members of this Club and are concered about our welfare.

Geoff, read your post with interest, as I said before, am currently with CN but renewal 16th Jan....Just recd offer of £387.58, an increase of £119 and no mention of breakdown cover...I have just phoned CN to discuss a further reduction and they can't help.

Will post later with quotes from others

Back again....didnt take long did it??? couldnt find the number for classic line, so called LV, my wife is a csma member so got a better deal, with insurance in my name but wife as named driver. Total cost £189 including my dec of 4 points for speeding! £30ish pounds deposit now, 10 monthly instalments of £16ish from Feb!

No breakdown cover so will have to source that separately.

Merry Xmas...ho ho ho...a sorry goodbye to CN...maybe next year...

If you are looking for breakdown cover for more than one car and person etc... try http://www.gemrecovery.co.uk have used them the last few years without any problem... and must have called them out a good few times....

Well, its that time again and it looks as if I've been caught up with the Carle Nash classic policy problem!! I got my renewal and it had gone up by a staggering 300%.

Anyway, I've had a good phone around (anybody got the number for Liverpool and Victoria?) and Classic Line appear to offering quite a good deal. However, has anybody ever had cause to claim against them? A good value policy is one thing, if they're a pain to deal with should the need arrise, thats another.

Cheers,

Phil,

visit here for LV web site and details. They gave me the cheapest quote when I left CN (50% renewal increase) and quoted to give me free track insurance - but that's another story

Cheers Jacob, gave them a ring but got the ' sorry, we don't insure modified car's' routine!!!
Its looking like either RH Specialist Insurance or Classic Line at the moment.

Very odd - I didn't have to give details of any mods, so long as I could prove with receipts that I did infact have them. Which was preciesly one of the reasons that I went with them!!!

It sounds as though LV are changing their policies without letting thie existing customers know.

This is my first porsche and I used Heritage 0121 246 5050 - only £358 fully comp ( i only have 3 years ncb as I have a company car too) and i'm in the motor trade! (which usually means more). Guarnteed value, 5000 miles and cover for "while you use your vehicle for a track day organised by your car club".

Didn't think that was too bad seeing as I'm 32.

James,
Thats really odd, they quoted me over £500, I'm also 32 and live in rural ish Lincolnshire!!
I'm in the wrong business, it seems motor insurance is a license to print money!!

Just renewed with C Nash, Originally was quoted £430 (last year was £350) for the same std policy std - Fixed valuation, RAC, Europe cover, 6000 miles, etc, by reducing my milage allowance to 5000 paid £380 - this was still cheaper than others so renewed - will see what we have in store next year!

My tuppence...

Just agreed terms with Nowell & Richards. 88 3.2 Coupe, garaged, 5000 miles, includes commuting, £150 excess - £320. I'm 33 with a clean licence. Underwriter is Royal & Sun Alliance.

Have been with Carole Nash but the best they could come up with was £439 (last year's premium was £360).

Overall, pretty pleased...

My insurance is due for renewal soon and my "specialist broker" has been unable to provide me with a competitive renewal quotation and unable to justify the huge hike either, so I'm currently shopping around.

While sourcing quotes, I have noticed that a couple of the big insurance companies have changed their "Protected No Claims Discount" limitations from:
two claims in three years to:
two claims in FIVE years!

OUCH [:(]

Not sure if this only applies to new policy holders or existing policy holders as well, but two of the firms are Norwich Union and Liverpool Victoria.
