insurance question

Last month I had to pay £50.00 to be added to my Wife's Asda insurance policy in order to drive her car with 3rd party cover! its bloody crazy. Who isn't at some point going to drive their spouses car ? I would stongly recommend that everyone thoroughly reads through their cover schedule. They may find that half the things they thought they had cover for have been removed over the years. My car isn't covered for theft if its not parked overnight in my garage ? so I can't drive anywhere when its dark ...... I would really recommend that you get your cover ammended before you take the docs in so that you can show that you now have 3rd part cover , that you ammended the cover the moment that you became aware that you wern't covered and have no intention of driving without it for the future. Good luck

Sounds like the details you need to see are going to be in your mate's policy documents. It looks like you aren't covered on your own policy, so you need to know the precise wording of the details on your mate's documents. Fingers crossed. See what the next couple of weeks brings. It won't be a comfortable wait. Keep us posted. Oli.

I had a pal get caught out with this a while back, he came clean saying it was a genuine mistake, it went to court although he didnt have to and they gave him a fine (£100 if i recall correctly and told him to be more mindfull in the future, thinking of you mate, let us know how it goes. You used to always get 3rd party cover to drive other motors but insurance industry have stamped down on it quite a lot. I have my old range rover and Clio 16v on an admiral multicar policy, and I noticed two years ago when the renewal came through that this 3rd party cover had stopped. I phoned and moaned about it and they reinstated it for no charge and its remained on since. They guy on the phone told me they had automatically dropped it on all fully comp policys and expected rest of the industry to follow suit. However I got it back with no charge on enquiry. My 944 Turbo is with Adrain Flux cherished car policy and not sure if it had 3rd part cover for other motors but think somebody mentioned it doesnt. Anyway cue everybody going to look at there policy docs now, hope it goes ok and you onyl get a slap on wrist, but defo look into your buddies policy?
