That time of year again. Phone stuck to the ear/ trawling online quotes and the difference in renewal costs never fail to suprise - 10,000 miles pa, 4 years NCD Protected, No Mods, Driveway, Thatcham 1 , No Points or Convictions.

Natwest ( Renewal ) £1012.20 ( an increase from £896.71 )
Performance Marque £ 981.43
Heritage £ 1088.34
Direct Line £ 1034.25
Privelage £ 1223.98
Carole Nash £ 1182.00
Adrian Flux £ 883.00
Admiral £ 1609.00
Liverpool Vic £ 916.47
Elephant £ 1343.23

And the Worst - Norwich Union £2221.22 !!

But very happy with the quote from Peart £670 , anybody used them or heard anything about them , cannot see the premium being beaten and quite frankly have lost the will to live anyway[;)]

Well done mate thats an impresive list to call.

Mine will be up soon too, is that a standard or classic policy you are looking for?

Hope you do not mind me asking CHRISR but what is your age? and are you in a high risk area?

At those prices you must still be at school[:D]

Slim - because of the 10,000 miles pa mainly the quotes where on Standard as I found virtually all Classic Policies seem to limit the mileage to 6,000 max. This in itself is a concern for me as quite a lot of the classic policies will give you an ' agreed ' value, which is a fair reflection of the cars value from both parties where as a standard policy will mainly use Glass's Guide / CAP Valuation to establish a cars value in the event of a total claim.

Our 944's to my knowledge are to old for Glass's and the CAP Valuation on my car for its mileage is somewhere in the region of £2500 - which if paid out by an insurance company would be an insult. That is a situation Im not to happy to leave to chance and therefore looking to see if I can get the mileage down to 6,000 therefore getting it on a classic policy, reducing the premium and getting an agreed value.

And Berg , Im 33 but penalised I think for 10,000 miles pa and no garage - the area I live in is a nice quiet area - oh hang on got to go that dam burglar is back again.

I just show this. It is very good and I wish everybody who is researching the market before buying an insurance would let the club now. Plus, any experiences when it comes to the crunch would also be highly appreciated.
I have been trying to create an Insurance DataBase to do this at
http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=119174&mpage=1&key=&#119458
I will link them together if you do not mind.

Dam good idea - it might save us all time and effort at renewal stage if eg its obvious that an insurer is poor on quotes on a certain model or vice versa and also experience of claims handling forms part of the overall package for me.

Have you tried Zenith insurance? there pretty good, there the only people that would insure me at a decent price. There also the only people that would insure my mate on an M3 (because of age).

I'm playing the same insurance ring round game for our S2 at the moment [8|]

We've been with Liv & Vic for the past three years and its always been circa £400 for an umlimited mileage policy with protected NCB. However this year they have revisited their pricing for all Group20 cars due to claims and its increased 50% to just under £600. In a twist off fate the Turbo renewed with them in December and it went down from £420 to £400

£600 is still a lot better than some of the other quotes in this thread but it's annoying when I've been paying premiums for 20 years adding up to over £15k, had one £700 claim when a Metro was stolen and still they lmup me in with all the other high risk drivers. My business is high profit and low risk to an insurance company.

AON claimed at the PCGB conference that they insure the individual so I'm waiting to hear back from them, most of the other advertisers in Porsche Post aren't interested unless its a classic policy limited to 6000 miles. Excuse me, I like to drive my cars not leave them in the garage.

Best quote so far is £500 from Direct Line but I refuse to use them because they happily offshore UK call centre jobs to 'low cost countries' (yes I'm biased about that because my job was offshored last week). Trouble is, will I be able to stick to my principles if I can't beat it [;)]

Watch this space [/gets off soapbox]

Liv Vic just sent the renewal for my 306 today; £621. Excuse me? It's a shopping hatch for heaven's sake. This will be the end of me being with them for 4 consecutive years then, as I already have a quote of £439 with guaranteed NCB, not just protected. I need to get a chipped windscreen replacement out of them before the policy ends, too. I'm with you on the offshoring Paul. Personally I have not been directly affected but I believe that if a company thinks so little of its customer service that it will compromise it for the sake of saving money then that's a company I don't need to be a customer of. Direct Line premiums will be going up soon anyway since they started insuring one of those twins who got driven into by an unisured driver and now have flooded their houses and brought down a ceiling; he's clearly a liability and will cost them money...[:D]

Tesco are tied in with Direct Line aren't they? They both quoted me close to the best I have so far for the Pug but they treat 25,000+ miles per annum as a special case these days and they don't guarantee the NCB.

Yep - one in the same.

Anyway Peart are currently coming up trumps at £430 and their ad in PP specifically states 'No call centre, no call queueing, all business handled and administered 100% in UK' [:)]

I've heard good and bad about them in the past, but it's looking like they are getting my business

Lucky my S2 is standard then (well apart from the Boxster wheels, which they are happy with) [:)]

December could be interesting when the Turbo comes up for renewal []

On a related matter, I've just started another policy for my 85bhp diesel van - £1200 [] but that does include full motor trade, public liability etc. Wow, private cars seem so cheap after this.

Paul/Fen personally would never use Direct Line/Tesco as operating a call centre abroad purely for cost stuff the employee/client in the UK will never get my business - even though I ring them for a quote [:)] .

I went with Peart for my S2 and though Ive no claims experience they have been efficent when Ive had to ring them .

I've just renewed with www.firstalternative.co.uk - they got me a quote similar to the Peart one (although I hadn't seen this thread before getting the quotes so who knows, maybe it's second best)

To put prices into perspective, I've just got my first quote for the track slag; £782 with every modification declared and the only restrictions being 5,000 miles per year and garaged, otherwise it's mine to do with as I see fit and there is no NCB involved in that. That's with AON and bear in mind every aspect of the car is modified, some of it beyond all recognition. It's fair to say I'm relieved the figure doesn't start with a 1 and have 3 other numbers after it. By the way, harking to an earlier topic they don't load roll cages as they see them as safety devices (even if they are Rollcentre, Matter etc. [:D]).

I insured my 944 Turbo with Norwich Union through Noel & Richards for some years and they were very much cheaper. I paid around £350 fully comp and no mileage limit.

Also when going to Carole Nash did you mention you were a member of PCGB. This can knock a bit more off with some insurance companies.

I've just renewed with www.firstalternative.co.uk -

Thanks Ben, I'd forgotten about them (despite thier annoying Michael Winner TV advert)

They are the lowest quote so far at £389 with identical terms as to all the others. Underwritten by Halifax Bank of Scotland.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Carole Nash, though historically they have been uncompetitive as I do too high a mileage (I've knocked my mileage down to 8k this year though as I no longer have to commute to IBM [:D])

Fen, yours is a real good quote with the uber modifications it has [] (shows the benefit of limited miles)
