Insurance Summary

Just renewed with Carol Nash, £354 with 250XS limited to 5000miles p.a. , Euorpean Breakdown included. Minor mods; cross drilled discs, panel filter, adjustable dampers and stainless exhaust.
Not too bad I thought considering what you guys and girls are paying.

HI there
Just checked with classicline on the cost to add my wife to the policy, and to my surprise (after speaking to Carole Nash) there is no extra cost.

Just had a quote from Lancaster Insurance:

25 y/o, SP50 in April 2000, 1 accident in Jan 2001 (no claim by me but thirdy party claimed off my ins), CAT2, Birmingham post code, parked on drive way.

3 Yrs NCB, Fully comp

911 3.2 Carrera Coupe, '89, Standard - agreed value of £15k

£605.00 inc legal protection and breakdown cover - £150 x/s

Or with £400 x/s the policy reduces to £524.00

Classic policy and limited miles to 7,500 (inc commuting to and from work).

Edited so I can put my previous car on as a comparison:

Calibra 4x4 Turbo, "P", insured for £6.5k, CAT1, modified: wheels, bigger intercooler, full stainless steel exhaust, Insurance group 18,

fully comp inc legal protection, no breakdown cover - £450 x/s
£850.00

Better go and find a 911 to buy then [:)]

I'm 25 living in London and have just bought a '86 3.2 coupe fully restored on a '66 chassis, caused serious problems with insurance. Annual policy is an extra £650 un top of the policy for my old twinturbo mazda rx7 (already £970). Has anyone else got a similiar car and had any luck with decent premiums?

Oh well, here goes my small contribution.

1987 3.2, lowered, supercharged (320 bhp), unlimited mileage, garaged, grey hair (me), various anti-walking away with devices (including filmed windows to stop anyone breaking in), London W6, protected no claims, no points (not since 1987 - ain't I good ! ), free green card (do they all include this ?), free legal cover, extra for track days (only done one, and that was arranged privately), plus other mainly comestic mods (all of which the insurance co. know about).

Liverpool Victoria - £600.00

Norwich wanted £1100.00, and that was before they 'allowed' the mods.

25yr old, 5yrs NCD, 3points on SP30, Living in London and an IT manager, '66 carrera chassis totally rebuilt to '86 3.2 (all parts from ground up except stainless system and 17" cups), CAT1, kept on driveway - £1700! Best quote was from Chris Knott after calling everyone and their mother

Just renewed mine and came up with the following from Norwich Union Direct

1988 3.2 Carrera Sport Targa
Fully Comp & legal expenses
£720 excess
£60 winscreen excess
SDP & Business for me and the wife
Protected no claims
Age 38
Parked on drive in Berkshire
Unlimited mileage

£406.97

Melv,

Maybe I should get track insurance, as yes that is me at Curborough in the avatar. I would like to be able to say that I gathered it up and perfectly applied just the correct amount of opposite lock to flick it back the other way round the molehill....

Of course I actually spun it...

One of my friends had just popped out a core plug on his MGB on the previous lap and dumped its coolant, the 911 just span the moment I turned in....no hope of recovery!

I will be interested to see the requote for my car when I declare its value as about £11500 from the £6500 it is now.

Continuing the debate..

Just renewed with Carol Nash - would have been £345.67 for 6,000 fully comp' (Axa don't want to do Classic policies I hear - so now underwritten by Chaucer). As I only did just over 2,000 last year opted for a 3,000 policy for £256.55. The usual goodies, cherished value, pan European breakdown, agreed value, garaged, Thatcham Cat 1.

This Classicline place you mention - is that Classicline in Hinckley, Leics??

If not, please can you post the phone number?

I just got a quote from Carole Nash for '87 3.2 Super Sport Cabriolet, 6000miles, £650 excess, age 29, driveway in Leicestershire for £446.53. No no claims bonus required so I can put my 9 years on my other car. Also includes Adam with his 6 points!

Cheers
Ruth (Adam's other half, now with Porsche of my own! [:)])
