Insurance with Carole Nash

Has this happen to anyone else............just had the insurance quote through Carole Nash and it had gone up £200 to £800 a year [] , when i rung them they said the under writers had change the way they classed the cars and that was the price and couldn't be changed.Needless to say i won't be using them.

Tried Peart and Perfomance Marque and got quotes from both at just under £600.Has anyone got any feed back on either of these 2 or can i try any one else ??

Thanking you help me to save some pennies [;)]

Ian,

I left C. Nash in circumstances similar to yours. Now insured via Lloyds TSB!! not very exciting but excellent cover at base prices. However my car is standard spec, or was until your SS rear box arrived. Not fitted yet, but thanks anyway.

I have been customers of both Peart & Perf Marque. I have never had to claim but the service I received was excellent from them both. Have also used AON & Heritage/Norton. All excellent but never had to claim thank goodness.

Keep away from Mayfair Group who also trades as Performance Insurance... []

EDIT : I see your car has a big engine, try AON & Heritage/Norton as they cover me for my modded 930.

I had exactly the same problem with Carole Nash after being with them for 2 years on a classic policy. I eventually went with A-Plan who advertise on Pistonheads among other places. I've since used them for our BMW 330i and for my company van. They seem very accomodating and keen to beat everyone elses price. The insurance ultimately goes to the company offering the best deal but A-Plan administer the whole thing and they include accident recovery as well. No affiliation you understand - just an impressed and satisfied customer. Follow the link http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=257421&f=48&h=0 if you are interested.

Regards

Dave

100% the same for me, my insurance with CN went up by £1000 !!! Again, they said my car was re-classified and no longer a classic.

On advice from another formum member I switched to Classic Line insurance ( they advertise in the PP ) with the same cost as previous year.

I have been using Aon for over 10 years now with various "classics" they have been fab! Cant fault them... They were very helpful when I needed to add varius drivers to three of my old VWs when we used them for our wedding cars. Recomend them I go direct to the classic dept based in Dudley West Mids.

Thanks everyone have tried most of the ones suggested most of them are dearer and some won't even insure due to the engine change.I will try Classic line Insurance and then decide.

CLasic line were tops for me as they kept the classic status. They were recomended to me by Nicola Turtill, I am sure she wouldn't mind being contacted for her views.

Good luck with the hunt !

I've used Performance Marque in the past and made a claim for a total loss in the first month !! ( Don't ask ! )
They were helpful and polite and the cheque arrived in about a week if i remember correctly .

I use RH Specialist division, they are a decent price and my mods haven't affected the premium, although I don't have a 3.6 in her. They cocked up to start with and had the car down as a turbo, rather than the 3.2. This also made no difference to the premium.

Also includes European recovery, so well happy.
This years renewell was the same as last year, even better.

Have you tried out Lancasters ? I moved to them from Carole Nash couple of years ago and have been very pleased with them.

Funny you should mention them , i just got a very good quote from them (R H Specialist Division ) about £100 cheaper than anyone else.
I also got a good quote from Asset Trust group but they didn't sound as if they knew what they were talking about [&:] , maybe it was me.They didn't seen to ask enough questions and and it was quoted very quick where as the others all rang me back.

Ian

I use Lancaster & they seem to be really good price-wise (£175 for an SC) not tried to claim though!

Check Adrian Flux out, they deal witha lot of modded cars. Both them and Performance Marque have 'administrative' issues, it took months for the cert to arrive from either (7 months from AF!) and AF lost my immobiliser cert (so don't send the original)

Adrian Flux couldn't even be bothered to get back to me []

I went with RH Specialist Division in the end.
Thank you for all the info.[:)]
